Activa International Insurance Company (Ghana) Limited started operations in Ghana in 2009 by acquiring a South-African owned insurance company, Global Alliance Insurance Company which was incorporated and licensed to commence short term general insurance business in January 2005. Activa International Insurance Company (Ghana)’s parent company is Activa Assurances based in Douala, Cameroun which is the second largest insurance company in Cameroun. The holding company of the group is Activa Finances incorporated in Mauritius and currently counts the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group as a shareholder. Activa Assurances is the originator of the Globus Network, a grouping of 38 well-positioned and dynamic insurance companies in 38 African countries which enable multinational and global clients to enjoy expert and world-class insurance services and coverage with geographical presence across Anglophone, Arabo-phone, Francophone and Lusophone Africa. The Globus Network is the largest of its kind in Africa. Globus has a wide range of international business partners such as major western insurance groups, international insurance and reinsurance brokers, international commercial and industrial groups as well as other international insurance networks. Since its inception in Ghana, the company has provided and continues to provide top-notch insurance services to all sectors of the Ghanaian economy. Due to the uniqueness of the company’s products and services, the company has, among its clientele; multinationals such as Newmont Ghana, Goldfields Mining, Chirano Goldmines African Mining Services, Diageo Plc, Nestle Ghana Ltd, Cardbury Ghana Ltd, Barclays Bank Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank Societe Generale Ghana, DHL Exel, Bollore Ghana, A.P. Moller, Maersk, Game Discount World Ghana, Heidelberg Cement, Shell Ghana, Fan Milk Ghana, Shoprite Ghana, Antrak Ghana, Delmas Shipping, GlaxoSmithKline, Stellar Ghana, among several other blue chip companies. Activa specializes in short term insurance, underwriting of large corporate risks; industrial all risks, contractors-all-risks and other engineering insurance covers, motor fleet, workmen’s compensation, general and specialist liability covers, marine cargo and hull and niche insurance products. The company sells the Assets MultiMark III Insurance Policy, which has been adapted from the South African market. This policy provides 20 covers under one and the same policy. Activa International Insurance Company (Ghana) Limited has done well to spearhead the establishment of Activa International Insurance branch companies in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Activa International Insurance (Liberia) Ltd and Activa International Insurance (Sierra Leone) Ltd. Steve also serves on the Board of Activa Finances (in his capacity as Managing Director), UGAR-Activa ( Guinea) and LGV-Activa ( Guinea).
