PISCIS Feasibility Analysis of a Biomass Automatic Estimation System for Marine Cages of Fish Farms GRUPO CULMAREX S.A.
[[ In aquaculture there is a need for systems capable of estimating the weight and size distribution of populations of marine species. Commercial systems have limitations. Some systems depend heavily on human intervention. Others require additional hardware elements which involve difficulties when dealing with fish farms with cages out at sea. The objective of the project is to test a prototype, previously developed by AICIA researchers, for fish farm biomass estimation, and to evaluate its performance in industrial operational use. The system, designed to automatically estimate the weight and size distribution of aquaculture fish using stereo vision, is capable of operating in fish farms with cages at sea without any adaptation or any other hardware element. As specific objectives, the system has been evaluated for semi-automatic estimation of sea bass and for fully automatic estimation of gilthead bream. ]
