One Book One 2020 Village

The Secrets We Kept follows the parallel stories of three women – two CIA typiststurned-spies and a literary muse in Soviet Russia. Lara Prescott’s debut novel traces the incredible real-life tale of the Cold Warera CIA operation that led to not only the publication of Doctor Zhivago, but also its proliferation around the world. This mission was grounded in the belief that art has the power to shape culture and politics, a theme that still resonates today. Copies of The Secrets We Kept are available for checkout at the library, in the Senior Center’s Reading Room or online on cloudLibrary. Holds can be picked up on the bookmobile, at the drive-up window or inside the library on the hold shelves. Copies for book groups are also available for checkout. Pick up a set of books for your own book group to read and discuss. Use the hashtag #AHMLSecretsWeKept to share your experiences with this year’s book online or to share a photo of where you are reading the book this fall. More information at ahml.info/onebook.
