Speaker Profile

BRUCE HILDENBRAND has been involved in the sport of cycling for over thirty years as a competitor, freelance photojournalist, and commentator. His written works have appeared in over 30 different publications in the Americas and Europe. Bruce has announced bicycle races, charity rides, gran fondos, and fundraising events across the United States.

Bruce helped put bicycling on the internet in the early 80s and also helped launch the world’s most popular bicycle racing website, cyclingnews.com. A cycling luminary, he provides expertise in professional bike racing, safety, and advocacy.

JOE BREEZE Born in the bicycling hotbed of Marin County, Joe Breeze was one of the

original participants at mountain biking’s seminal race, the Repack. The first ever mountain bike he built in 1977, the Breezer #1, is now in the Smithsonian Institute. He continues to build bikes under the Breezer brand and has won numerous Editor’s Choice Awards. He is on the Board of Directors of the Marin Museum of Bicycling and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.

OTIS GUY, a lifelong Marin County resident, was one of the original participants in the

Repack, including one win. He began building his own line of bikes, Otis Guy Cycles, shortly thereafter. He runs a summer mountain bike camp for kids and is the coach of the Sir Francis Drake High School mountain biking team. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Marin Museum of Bicycling and Mountain Bike Hall of fame.

TOM RITCHEY began building bicycle frames when he was still in high school in Palo

Alto over forty years ago. His contribution to the development of the mountain bike is wellchronicled, as is his sponsorship of one of mountain biking’s first super teams. These days, Ritchey Designs produces a cutting-edge line of bicycle components including seat posts, stems, handlebars, pedals, and wheels which adorn bicycles on six of the seven continents.
