NORTHERN UGANDA AGRICULTURAL LIVELIHOODS RECOVERY PROGRAMME (ALREP)

INCREASING THE PRESENCE AND CAPACITY OF PRIVATE AGRO DEALERS AT SUB-COUNTY LEVEL IN NORTHERN UGANDA BY UNADA, FUNDED BY ALREP UNADA is the national apex organization for all agro-input dealers in Uganda. UNADA’s aim is to foster the growth of an efficient and cost effective input distribution network that will reach all farmers in Uganda. Currently, UNADA has 1,300 members organized in 93 branches and 10 regions. The organization also consists of 48 member suppliers and distributors. With funding from ALREP, UNADA is expanding the agricultural input distribution network to the subcounty level by building the agro input dealership skills of 300 entrepreneurs, specifically in training them in business skills, bulking and trading of agricultural produce, seed merchandising and safe handling of agro chemicals. In addition, UNADA helps input dealers to expand their markets through advertising, on-farm demonstrations, trade fairs and publicity events. Lastly, through UNADA, ALREP provides small grants to the established agro input shops in Northern Uganda to improve storage, shelving and sign posting.
