Immunisation schedule changes from 1 July 2020

Designed to improve protection against meningococcal and pneumococcal disease, changes to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) took effect from 1 July 2020. The changes were recommendations from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and other clinical experts. Changes were made to the NIP meningococcal vaccination schedule, NIP pneumococcal vaccination schedule and NIP hepatitis A childhood vaccination schedule. Ensuring informed consent is properly obtained is a legal, ethical and professional requirement on the part of all treating health professionals.
