• Pre-paid: You can buy a temporary Thai ‘tourism sim card’ anywhere in Thailand Pre-paid packages come with renewal and top-up options, available for purchase in the provider’s website and convenience stores. You will be able to purchase a local sim card after you receive work permit.
• Post-paid: Sim-card registration with service provider with monthly issuance of invoice; fees are based on amount of usage or selected plan depending on your lifestyle i.e., some plans more come with unlimited internet, movies, or calls. You will need to provide your passport or work permit to register for this.
• It is handy to have a Thai SIM card as it will enable you to reach out to local numbers whether in everyday or emergency situations, meet up with fellow colleague or use Google Maps to find directions.
• Before applying for post-paid plan, ask about special promotions or bundle packages currently available. Some providers may be offering discounted rates for cellular data, texts, and/or calls.
