Sound is absorbed through the use of fabric on the chairs and also from the unique divider created in the raised dining area located in the center of the restaurant. This custom piece also serves as a great way to seperate the spaces to create a means of privacy. Maintaining the original hardwood floors, raised center platform and beamed ceiling were important not only due to the budget but because it is environmentally friendly. The original tables will also be reused and covered with linen table clothes

and the original track lighting will compliment the two additional lighting fixtures that are added to the space.

Naperville, one of Chicago’s most desired suburban towns, is not only highly ranked as one of the best places to raise a family but also for their top school district and library system. Several areas of this existing building has been modified to provide the public with their modern needs. A complimentary new addition on the second floor includes: taller ceiling heights in the guest rooms, outdoor seating, and second floor balconies so guests can enjoy the DuPage River and Riverwalk that are both located behind the building.

Windy City Shores,

The mission of Windy City Shores is to provide a fun and stress free environment for those who are retired. Our goals are to promote active living with big city opportunities, amenities and maintenance free living. Windy City Shores, located along Lakeshore Drive in Chicago, Illinois, is a retirement community for those looking for an engaging social environment and an active yet convenient means of living. Located in the heart of the city near restaurants, shopping and parks, it is great for those who like to go on long walks and encourages community involvement. Sea shells found along the shores of Lake Michigan inspired the building concept. The color palette throughout the building consists of neutrals and various shades of blues and greens. This color palette was inspired from the lake, sand and seaweed. The different halls and patterns on the floor leads to different spaces and encourages involvement in a variety of activities that are provided to the residents here at Windy City Shores.

LEED CI Standards were followed and achieved in order to limit the environmental impacts, to create a healthy interior environment as well as improving the air outside. HIPPA compliant privacy issues were considered in this design along with non-slip flooring and a positive distraction exhibit located in the waiting areas were all part of evidence based design.

The goal of the project was to divide the space according to each design division using the least amount of space possible while maintaining a functional work environment. Maintaining unobstructed views to the exterior was possible through the use of transparent materials and reflective surfaces to maximize the natural light and minimize the amount of energy needed to light the space.
The lobby’s main light source comes from the conference room windows.

I would like to dedicate my portfolio to all of my friends and family. I am truly blessed to have such loving and supportive people in my life. But most of all, I would like to thank my parents for everything they have done and continue to do. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I love you guys!
