ABOUT
the
SUMMER GRANT PROGRAM
The Summer Grant Program, founded by Bill Risley in
2005, gives high-school students the opportunity to participate in educational arts programs and to accept internships in their fields of interest. Over the past eight years, seventy students have received more than $165,000 in summer-grant scholarships. The scholarships are funded by special grants from the Lilac Foundation, and by gifts from individuals. ASAP students have attended pre-college programs at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA; Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA; Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT; Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY; The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and other nationally known institutions, as well as at local organizations such as the National Guitar Workshop and the Buck’s Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp in New Milford, and the Litchfield Jazz Camp. A performance and art show at the Woodhall School Art Center in Bethlehem on Saturday, September 29, will feature this year’s recipients.
