Preserving a Legacy: Acacia Tree Planting Project Students, faculty and staff at Africa University are participating in an Acacia tree planting project to highlight the natural environment and how it is treated. "The Acacia tree represents strength, resilience and durability, which is the embodiment of Africa University," said Rev. Dr. Peter Mageto, the acting vice chancellor. "As we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, this is one of the ways in which we plan on commemorating and appreciating

The Africa University main campus wasabuzz with students as online lectures began on January 24th. The university invited students on scholarships and those facing difficulties with internet access, electricity and other key services to return to the main campus at Old Mutare, Zimbabwe. Online-only teaching and learning as well as infection prevention protocols remain in place. University officials note that any progression from online to in-person lectures will be guided by public health data and the advice of public health authorities.

The large and conspicuously flat-topped tree grows in the savannah regions of Africa and is valued for its shade, drought tolerance, medicinal uses, and ability to fix nitrogen in the soil to the benefit of other plants growing nearby. Project participants are being provided with seedlings for planting throughout February.

AU marks its 30th anniversary Forty students from six African nations were the first to enroll at AU in 1992. They came to study theology and agriculture and natural resources. The students had their first day of classes on March 23rd. Africa University's one-year celebration program highlights milestones in its 30-year ministry, and the impact of its faculty, students and alumni in community leadership, outreach and service..
