Selfie of The Week

Knowing the abilities and skill set of each team member and learning from each other paves a path for success, and this is definitely true of the customer care and sales teams from all states. Along with sales training and working together to achieve their monthly targets, the team also gathered together for a Buzz Night at Penrith Panthers earlier this month. Because they’re all working in different states, it’s not often they all have the chance to come together, so this Buzz night was a great opportunity to get to know each other, socialise in a causal setting and simply enjoy a night out with colleagues, but most importantly, friends. The Buzz Night really set the teams in a good mood and great enthusiasm to tackle the phenomenal task set for the following month. Continued Pg. 3

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, AUSSIE WIN! It was a phenomenal display of perseverance, skill and strategy as the Disability League Australian Team came head to head with the New Zealand Disability League in the finals of the 2018 Emerging Nations World Championships. Afford is proud to be the sponsor of the Disability League Australian Team and we were in awe of the amazing talent that hit the field for the final game against New Zealand. As an organisation, we secure partnerships that align with Afford values. The Disability League Australian Team partnership presents many synergies with Afford in its promotion of health and fitness, respect and integrity for all players, and the opportunity to ‘have a go’. After singing the national anthems of the playing teams, players got right into the game with some sensational passes, tackles and strategy. Marco Quinto is an Afford client of Oran Park Day Program who inspires everyone he meets with his absolute love of everything NRL. The crowd erupted throughout the game with every try scored and cheers for both teams as the final whistle signalled the end of the game, seeing Australia take the series win 20 - 16. Congratulations to players of both teams for an amazing battle. Well done Australia - Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

DES GETS INTO BUS SHELTERS Afford DES is getting the word out about Afford’s employment support services through a campaign of advertising in bus shelters in the local community. The bus shelter advertising is located in highly visible locations in Sydney’s South West, such as Hoxton Park Road and Elizabeth Drive in Liverpool. The ads will run for two weeks and, with the tag line: ‘Need Help Finding a Job?’, are designed to attract job-seekers to find out more about employment services offered by Afford. It’s great to see Afford branding being showcased in the community and connecting with people in need of support.

Staff Matters BOUNTY BUZZ FOR SALES TEAM CONT.

Teams were set the target of $1 million client sales by the end of October with a Bounty Bonus offered as a sweetener for exceptional sales by an individual team member. So far, Queensland has experienced the highest growth in client signups with a 37% increase from September ($619,692.37) to October ($1,006,217.00). Already at over $1 million of client signups, the Queensland have hit their target - and still with one week to go in the month! There have been impressive results from Cherryl Joseph from Brisbane South (currently in the lead for the Bounty Bonus) who has generated a whopping $474,927.66 in client sign-ups and also Ben Thurtell from Brisbane North who has managed to generate $216,773.55 in client signups despite working in a region where the NDIS has not been fully rolled out. Our teams and tribes mentality has created strong camaraderie across interstate borders and is delivering real success for our organisation, and our clients. Absolutely amazing work teams!

BOUNTY BONUS RACE – SALES FIGURES QLD - $1,006,217.00 NSW - $570,128.00 VIC - $113,639.00 AFFORD GOES PINK FOR CANCER Last Friday, 19 October the Afford community dressed in pink for Pink October to support Women’s Cancer research with the Cancer Council. The dress in pink day was coordinated by Kiesha in Marketing and Antoinette in HR. The duo wanted to do something to support those affected by breast cancer, particularly because some Affordians have been touched personally by this disease. It was great to see everyone pledging their support. It was a sea of pink across the marketing, finance and property teams at head office and we received so many wonderful photos of Affordians dressing in pink across all businesses. It was great to see everyone coming together and wearing a touch of pink. We saw pink t-shirts, scrunchies - even pink hair! The initial target was to raise $100, but that was reached even before the dress in pink day, so the target was revised to $250. To date, $180 has been raised to support the cause, but there’s still more time to reach our target! We have until 30 November to raise funds for this very worthy cause. Making a donation - even $1 - is quick and easy via this dedicated website: https://www.doitforcancer.com.au/fundraisers/kieshaspies3246/afford-goes-pink Thanks to everyone who took part. It was a great way to bring colour to our Friday and a great cause to support.

TRAINING FOR DESIGN Recently, Michelle and Kiesha from our marketing team participated in a design workshop session with Kaysan Collins from Lewis Creative. With the artwork demands on the marketing team increasing with Afford’s expansion, the design workshop provided the team with some of the finer skills of design so that they can create even better flyers and marketing collateral for Afford businesses. Upskilling staff in another Employer of Choice initiative to make sure that we have the best staff in the sector. It is important for staff to continue to grow and improve on their skillsets. You train your staff so well that they could leave, but treat them so well that they don’t want to. Well done Kiesha and Michelle! We look forward to seeing even more amazing designs coming from the marketing team.
