Afford has teamed up with Officeworks Minchinbury for the Round Up To Make A Difference (RUTMAD) fundraising initiative. Afford and Officeworks Minchinbury share many synergies. Officeworks aims to help and inspire customers to achieve their goals at work, school or in the community. Core to Officeworks’ vision is making a positive difference through their range of products, services and ways of working. Just like Afford, their success is based on the success of their clients and their communities. As part of the RUTMAD initiative, Officeworks is asking customers if they would like to round up purchases to the nearest dollar and make a donation to local groups, such as Afford. So far, the store has already raised over $300 for Afford! During the campaign, representatives from Afford will be visiting the Officeworks store to chat with staff about the array of supports and services that Afford offers people living with disability in the community. Officeworks in Minchinbury will also create an in-store table display of Afford brochures, flyers and posters so that customers can find out more about all that our organisation can provide for the local community. Thanks Officeworks! We look forward to keeping up with the progress of this great initiative!

Everyone quickly warmed themselves up with some dancing, playing air guitar and air drumming on the bus on the way to Rumble Run. Rumble Run is a 5km obstacle course based in Camden that always promises FUN! Afford clients and staff spent their day bouncing, climbing, and running, getting covered in foam and bubbles, with everyone laughing hysterically throughout. All Club Afford participants enjoyed a truly amazing Saturday, but in addition, they also spent the day contributing towards their personal healthy lifestyles with running and exercising through the 5km course and building on friendships by working together as a team to make sure everyone made it to the finish line. Everyone is already counting down to the next Mount Druitt Club Afford event!

Marketing Team Making A Change

We often talk about promoting Afford to potential clients in your region and tailoring messages to suit your prospective customers, while still adhering to the wider Afford brand. With Afford experiencing significant growth over the past years and months, it is more important than ever to know who your clients are and how to attract more clients to your business. Every business has the autonomy to create a marketing strategy that works for your region. You know your region best, so it makes sense for you to be in charge of developing marketing that appeals to the values and demographics of your region. We have incorporated an upcoming events schedule in Staff Matters to help you plan ahead and incorporate upcoming events into your Marketing strategy. But it doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. The Marketing Team at Afford Head Office are exceptionally good at helping you develop striking, vibrant and engaging posters, flyers, business cards, signage and more that can help you promote your business. We have welcomed two new additions to the Afford Marketing Team - Kiesha and Mahdia - who can now also assist with your marketing requests to make your business shine! For any marketing requests such as flyers, brochures, etc, please use the new marketing@afford.com.au submission email, instead of CELEBRATE and the team will get back to you with the next steps.

Belmore Makes Some New Furever-Friends

Everyone loves a furry face and wagging tongue, so the team at Afford Belmore Lifestyle Centre have created a new Pet Therapy program to give participants to a good dose of fur-friend fun. The Pet Therapy Program is done in conjunction with Sydney Dog Training Centre. The Pet Therapy Program is designed to enable clients to be comfortable around dogs. The program began only recently and Afford clients were very excited to meet their new furry friends for the day. The morning started at 10:30am, with clients debriefed on the dog “Fatso”. At first, some clients were afraid, but very curious about the little rollie Pug that had come to visit. Soon, all were eager to get to know little Fatso better and learn more about caring for dogs. Clients really enjoyed interacting with Fatso and were even able to give him some special dog treats. Great work Belmore! We look forward to seeing this new human and fur-friend friendship grow!
