Dear Supporters, From July 31st to August 13th, 2010, I have been granted the once in a life time opportunity to join over 1000 young leaders from all around the world at the 5th World Youth Congress in Istanbul, Turkey. This conference is widely regarded for its ability to connect, inspire and empower leaders and provide the essential platform to collaborate on ideas and actions. By the end of June 2010, I will have completed a Master’s in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability in Sweden and I feel attendance at this conference will be an excellent compliment to my last year of studies. My goals as a participant in the Congress are to build a global network of inspirational young leaders to work with and share ideas about how we can support our communities, regions, and nations into a future of prosperity and fulfillment. I have been blessed over the past few years to work on a variety of projects ranging from sustainable development to innovation to community building. In addition, my recent degree has taught me how individuals, communities, and companies can take the necessary steps needed to move society towards a sustainable future. Combining my experience and education, I believe I will bring to the Congress a range of inspirational ideas, lessons learned, and the ever-important energy needed to instigate such necessary global change. Although the digital age has allowed us to connect virtually and collaborate with all corners of the globe, there is no replacement for being physically present to share experiences and make connections with others. While the Congress is generously covering my expenses for the duration of the conference, I am seeking support for my travel costs to and from Istanbul. My goal is to raise $1000. I plan to blog about my experience and would be more than happy to make a presentation to your organization or community about my experience and what I have learned. For a listing of the projects I have been involved with in the past, please visit my Portfolio at www.whereisspud.blogspot.com. Thank you in advance for your support. Please contact me at marshall.spud@gmail.com if you have any questions or comments about my attendance at the event. I can also be reached via Skype under the username iamspud.

Sincerely,

Steve (Spud) Marshall

APPEAL FOR SUPPORT We are delighted to invite STEVEN FRANKLIN MARSHALL JR. as a delegate to the 5th World Youth Congress to be held in Istanbul from the 31st July to the 13th August 2010. He has been selected among thousands of applicants for his active commitment in his community, his cultural values and his work to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The World Youth Congress series is recognised as the leading international platform focused on youth and sustainable development. It brings together the most active young leaders who are changing their communities. In Istanbul they will engage with global decision-makers and development professionals, exploring ways in which they can work more effectively together to achieve shared goals. The World Youth Congress is designed to be a catalyst for action. It will have a dynamic programme that combines inspiring speakers, skills workshops, roundtable discussions, intercultural performances and action projects in order to provide 1000 young participants coming from 100+ countries with a life-changing experience that will both inspire and empower every individual who comes to the Congress. The Government of Turkiye, E-genclik Association and Peace Child International have raised the necessary funds to cover all costs related to food, accommodation and domestic transport in Turkiye during the period of the Congress. However we are unable to provide travel expenses to all delegates. In order to ensure STEVEN FRANKLIN MARSHALL JR.’s participation, we would appreciate your support in sponsoring his travel to/from Istanbul, making it possible for this talented young leader to attend the 5th World Youth Congress. Yours Sincerely,
