The Problem The existing crossing on Ashley Hill is unsuitable. There is not enough room on the refuge for pushchairs, dogs or bikes and it is not visible enough.

19.07.12 Response from Wayne that if there are no yellow lines, enforcement of pavement parking can only be done by the Police. 01.08.12 Spoke with Chris Whitehorn to discuss community speed gun initiative for St Andrews Road and also Ashley-wide. He says that St Andrews Road will be monitored more regularly for speeding and illegal parking.

Cash point provision is at the discretion of local businesses. No scope at the present time for delivering this with the resources available. 25.07.12 Emailed resident offering to draft letter to local businesses of their choosing stating the demand for a cash point.

Look at possibility of Although there were petitions and a stopping the march. significant level of sentiment and opposition to the march, the march could not be stopped. Spoke with representatives of Avon and Somerset Police, who assured that the march would be very robustly policed and that public safety was top priority.

...42 cans and 18 bottles of alcohol were confiscated by the police from people within the “No Drinking Zone� dispersal notices where given to persistent offenders and as a result saw a significant reduction in the number of street drinkers in the area. The police also carried out licensing checks on a number of venues. over the two day the police arrested several offenders for breach of ASBO and public order offences.

Response from Georgie: Two nights of action for Bristol City Council community safety, police licensing and parking services officers working closely with the police held two nights of action on 10 - 11 August to make the Stokes Croft area safer.They were tackling in particular problems violent crime, anti social behaviour, illegally and dangerously parked vehicles and the nuisance caused by street drinkers and binge drinkers.Bristol City Council Parking services officers gave words of advice to over 35 motorists parked on the double yellow lines in the area. 06.08.12 Response from Andrew Whitehead: We propose to keep the one way on Cherry Lane as it is necessary to enable the lengthening of the bus stop. This proposal will be out to consultation to seek views.

Communal bins by the park are not emptied regualrly enough and the rubish overflows and blows around. Bear Pit Traders - rubbish piled up by container.

06.08.12 Response received from Trudy: people on one side of the road do not have off street storage for bins. Now they have the smaller wheeled bins these should not take up so much room on the pavement. Will monitor the road and if necessary get the waste doctors to do some visit to explain to people how to use our services.
