GRADUATION MAP
The Santa Clara High School class of 2021’s advice for future seniors as they plan for life after graduation. See map inside! Do what you love doing, don’t only think about the money. If you’re passionate about something you’re more likely to be successful at it. Of course it helps if it pays, though. lol
...I swear it felt like I just blinked and now I’m graduating.
When planning for college, remember to do things early. Ask for letters of rec early, do your essays early so that you can revise, revise, revise, and apply to where you want to go, not just where you can go.
Apply for scholarships constantly because there is always free money out there available to help students financially.
Don’t follow other people! Your path is your own and find places that will support your interests.
Dreams change, plans change, and life changes in unpredictable ways. You all started high school with different ideas of who you were going to be when you left SCHS, but you’ll have to learn to pivot and adjust as life goes on. Nothing is set in stone… so it’s okay if you realize that what you want to pursue now is drastically different from what you wanted to pursue when you were a freshman. As you grow, different wants and needs and goals will come into view. Don’t push them aside just because they weren’t what you expected.
Live your life the way you want it. Don’t hold back your feelings, and let everything out. There’s no room for holding onto emotions or holding personal grudges.
Whether it’s college, joining the workforce, or anything else, choose something that you’re truly passionate about and that you can see yourself doing.
Finish the year strong and look up to the sky for a bright future.
Talk to your teachers if you need help. They are very understanding and it would be better to keep them in the loop if you are having a hard time or need extra time. It is also beneficial if you join clubs and even get a leadership role. It makes the high school experience fun!
Try stuff! Volunteer a lot!! Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.
Really work hard and make the best of your senior year for the ones who couldn’t.
Don’t rush it kiddo.
Take a chill pill, it’s senior year!!! Relax a bit, and live in the moment. The year will pass quickly. Really enjoy every moment...
Do your research on the schools you apply to, and remember that your dream now may change as you go through high school and beyond. Let that change happen :)
Do what is best for you and never give up. If there is a will, there is a way.

College isn’t the only route to take after high school. Be smart with your money, invest it wisely and chase your dreams.
Live your life the way you want it. Don’t hold back your feelings, and let everything out. There’s no room for holding onto emotions or holding personal grudges. Remember that college admission decisions don’t define your worth and that you are capable of success and happiness no matter what. Y’all got this!
Keep a good work life balanced with hanging out and having fun with friends
Senioritis is inevitable, so just do as much work as you can before it kicks in.
Don’t drop the ball now.
Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.
Take the time to learn about your college, tour it, go to online zooms with the students there, and prepare for your independence. Try to do things that will help you understand the world better and yourself more.
Live in the moment! There are so many things you will regret not having taken advantage of when you leave high school such as school events, volunteer opportunities, etc. Academics are very important but they do not represent every aspect of you, it’s important to set aside time for yourself to participate in extracurriculars you’re really passionate about, any sports, focus on keeping that balance! Good luck, I believe in all of you and I know you will achieve great things in the future!!
Challenge yourself! You may think that you aren’t capable of taking a harder course load but you will get used to it! We are people of habit so we can pretty much adapt to anything… we just have to put our stubbornness aside. Also, try to switch your mentality from “I got to do this” to “I get to do this.” If you stick with this mindset your workload will become much more enjoyable and meaningful, it will not feel like a burden.
Don’t take your time and relationships in high school for granted.
Take it one step at a timeif you try to plan everything in your future at once you’ll get overwhelmed.
Take community college classes!
Study hard.
Don’t be scared if you’re not sure what you want to do when you graduate. It’s totally normal!!
Do applications earlier than you think you’ll need to. A lot earlier.
Make sure to focus on yourself!! Also break down some boundaries and try something new :)
Don’t stress, things will work out no matter what happens.
You have so much of your life ahead of you, high school is barely the beginning.
...make as many memories as possible, no matter how big or small they are and cherish them for us who couldn’t have a similar experience. Because before you could even blink, you’re being handed a diploma and it’s time to say goodbye to your friends as you head into adulthood.
