Community groups awarded grants by council AROU N D the Shepparton region, 19 community groups have been awarded grants for a range of purposes from the Greater Shepparton City Council. The

Council approved $20,500 in grants ranging from $500 to $2000 for small events and from $2000 to $5000 for larger events,

Greater Shepparton City Council aims to celebrate the local community and our diverse region through a range of major and community events each year. The various events supported by Council include sporting, cultural, commemorative, festive as well as annual community events. The Event Grants program provides financial assistance as well as marketing support to groups who are organising events within the Greater Shepparton

municipality. The total amount of funding allocated to the Small and Large Events Program is $45,000 for the 2019/2020 financial year. This amount is split into two rounds. The next round of Events Grants will open on Monday 2 December 2019 and close on Monday 10 February 2020. 18 new scholarships WITH a reputation as one of Australia’s b e s t ag r ic u lt u ra l col le ge s , D o ok ie campus of the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences has been awarded funding by the Australian Department of Education t o p r o v i d e 18 Destination A u s t r a l i a Scholarships. The Destination Australia Program wa s e s t abl i she d in March 2019 to attract and support international and domestic students to study in regional Australia, to grow and develop regional Australian tertiary education providers and offer students a high quality learning experience. Dookie campus director, Ros Gall

said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to support and encourage students who might not have the chance to study at Dookie, and we know that students who study at Dookie are far more likely to seek regional careers, building capacity and contributing to the economic viability of regional Australia.” The faculty has a longstanding history of offering worldclass education at its regional campus in the Goulburn Valley area, with a focus on agricultural growth and sustainabilit y. Ros Gall Dookie campus is a 2,440-hectare agricultural facility located near the towns of Shepparton and Benalla in Victoria, Australia.
