Alpamayo 19,412ft / 5,917m • Climb one of the world’s most beautiful mountain faces • Immerse yourself in the local culture and people • Moderate-altitude mountaineering on technical ground This mountain is often referred to as the most beautiful mountain in the world with its classic fluted snow slopes descending like fingers from the summit. We ascend via Alpamayo’s Ferarri Route, or the Italian Route, depending on conditions. The ascent involves moderately steep snow and ice climbing to 70 degrees and expedition members will require a background on this type of terrain prior to joining the trip. We acclimatise on an ascent of 5,686m Vallunaraju before moving to Alpamayo for the ultimate ascent. A technical climbing day takes us to a high camp from where we embark on the steep ice-face to the summit. We stay in local hotels for initial acclimatisation days, later moving to comfortable Base Camps that are well-catered. Apart from high mountain camp moves, the load-carrying is provided by porters and donkeys. This is a great high-altitude technical adventure! Artesonraju Extension 19,767ft / 6,025m Artesonraju is possibly the perfect depiction of a mountain, with fine aesthetic lines that make the mountain look startlingly similar to the Paramount Pictures logo. We operate our trip to Artesonraju as a six day add-on to Alpamayo that commences while you are still well acclimatised from climbing Alpamayo. The climbing route is similar in technical difficulty to Alpamayo and enables you to continue to enjoy the splendour of the Peruvian Andes with the additional climbing highlight that this climb delivers. Dates: July 25 - 30, 2020 Duration: 6 days Departure: ex Alpamayo Base Camp Add on price: 1 person US$7,650, 2 people US$4,550 each 3 people US$3,550 each, 4 people US$2,850 each

Cerro el Plomo 17,795 ft / 5,424 m • A short climb to moderate altitude in South America • Pre-acclimatise for Aconcagua A brilliant climb for a foray to five and a half thousand metres or as an acclimatisation trip prior to climbing Aconcagua, Cerro el Plomo is a relatively short yet fun excursion in the Chilean Andes. The climbing is straightforward although ice axe and crampons will be required and you will pass by an ancient Inca burial site at 4,500m on the way to the summit. Dates: Duration: Price:

“AC was great, mostly for pre-trip communication, knowledge of the guides and the total experience.”

• Second highest peak in South America • Highest active volcano in the world Straddling the borders of Chile and Argentina, Ojos del Salado is Chile’s highest mountain and Argentina’s second highest, after Aconcagua. ‘Ojo’ can boast that it is the highest active volcano in the world and the second highest mountain in the western hemisphere. It is an (almost) non-technical peak skirting the edge of the Atacama Desert and is therefore dry and barren. Highlights of this trip include Laguna Santa Rosa, where we delight in watching the Andean Flamingos which nest on the lagoon year round, and the turquoise waters of Laguna Verde with its hot springs which ease tired legs during our rest day there.
