About the Precinct

Anchored by three major slipways, the Cairns port is one of the largest ports in Australia with capacity to service vessels up to 105 metres and 3000 tonnes. Dredging and widening of the port to a depth of 8.8 metres opens the precinct to vessels up to 300 metres LOA. The three Shipyards include:

Capability Profile The Cairns Marine Precinct is home to HMAS Cairns and provides vital facilities and support services to Defence, Border Force, commercial, tourism and superyacht fleets. $150+ million in infrastructure projects enable the precinct to host cruise ships up to 300 metres, strengthening the skills of the permanent marine workforce.
