WE ARE CELEBRATING!
After a year of serving all takeout meals to our drivers, we are now able to offer them a hot meal and comradery when they return from delivering your meals. It feels wonderful!
KIND WORDS FROM A FAMILY MEMBER
I just wanted to thank you for your services. The meals you have provided my brother have been truly life changing. He loves the meals and always eats the desserts first. He was so excited about the Pineapple Upside Down Cake!!! He said the menu calendar helps him keep track of the days. It allows my family peace of mind to know he has food each day. Thank you again for all you do. — Artha Mae Whealon
FATHER’S DAY
What are your Father’s Day memories? My dad was a mixed bag. I choose to remember the good. He loved country music and taught me to sing some “interesting” songs when I was very young. I laughed out loud recently when I heard one of them on an oldies station and remembered it word for word! We sometimes celebrated my birthday and his Father’s Day together and I told him I was the best gift he ever received!
One of our participants calls a few times a year to tell me he is being “dad-napped”. His daughter comes

to pick him up and take him somewhere fun. Norm has been a very giving person in our community. He is the "Norm" of Norm’s Island. It is so fun to be able to give back to someone who has done so much for his community. I’m so happy that his daughter takes the time to spend quality time with her dad!

Not everyone has had the experience of being a father, but many have experienced a kind of fatherhood by mentoring a younger generation. One of our MOW’s drivers who did not have any biological children, taught school and even today continues to serve in his community mentoring a younger generation. It’s never too late to give encouragement to someone who could use a little fathering!

REMINDERS
Please have a frozen ice pack in your cooler if you will not be getting your meal right away. This is a safety issue that you must be responsible for. Because we have lost so many of our small blue ice blocks, we will once again, be accepting medium sized white reusable ice packs. These are like those you get with medications or frozen foods. They must be clean and in good condition. We put them in zip lock bags and reuse them until they are no longer good. If you are using them also, please put your name on yours so we don’t pick them up by mistake. Thanks for your help!
