M. Davis & Sons, Inc., a 152-year-old, fifthgeneration, family-owned industrial construction company, is coming to Kennett Square. The firm is coming to 227 Daylesford Court, Kennett Square, where there will be offices for executives, project managers, accounting, and human resources, as well as a 60,000 square feet of fabrication space.

M. Davis & Sons, Inc. builds and services corporate and government facilities of all types and sizes. Their focus on safety and quality workmanship enables them to provide complete construction, fabrication, and maintenance capabilities to produce customized, turn-key solutions for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

“We service a diversity of markets and manufacturing facilities,” Marketing and Digital Media Specialist Elaine Buonopane said. “It can be anything from a chemical site like DuPont to a regulated pharmaceutical or food and beverage facility.”

M. Davis & Sons, Inc. provides skilled craftspeople to run piping, electrical, HVAC, and many other features that accompany the installation of new equipment.

“We have a variety of services we bring to a project. Our customers rely on us not just for a particular trade but for the execution of an entire project from engineering to installation. We can handle the project from start to finish,” Buonopane said. “When they come to us, they have one source for all the different trades and services they need.”

M. Davis & Sons, Inc. works with the customer’s engineering firm, bringing their experience to the practical installation of the equipment within the available footprint.

“We have a team of seasoned management, engineers, and tradespeople that have experience with a diverse range of projects and customers,” Buonopane said.

M. Davis & Sons, Inc., takes on projects primarily in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey but has also done projects as far as South Carolina and Kansas.

Another offering from M. Davis is the manufacturing of modular process skids that are shipped all over the globe. “What we found is there is a market for modular construction, and that market is growing,” Buonopane said. “We don’t necessarily design the process. The client has the process design, and they are trying to figure out how to get it into a modular skid that we make, ship, test, and install.”

The process is constructed on a skid within a steel framework. The unit can then be dropped into a plant, with M. Davis & Sons, Inc. available to make the connections needed to get it running. “We work with our clients to build the process skid, and once shipped to their facility, we have crews available to install and maintain the process,” Buonopane said. The modular units are not only cost-effective; they are easily removed and allow for more fluidity in making changes in the manufacturing process.

M. Davis & Sons, Inc. is proud of its history as a fifthgeneration family-owned business. The fifth generation to run the business is CEO Peggy (Davis) Del Fabbro. She is proud that the firm is a certified Woman Owned Business through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

“We have a very diverse team regarding skills, age, gender, ethnicity, and backgrounds. We support our workforce to help them become skilled journeymen in their trade,” Buonopane said. M. Davis & Sons, Inc. is expected to move from its smaller Wilmington, Del. offices and open its doors in Kennett Square by the end of September. They will continue to operate multiple fabrication facilities in Delaware and Maryland. “We’re bringing about 140 employees to the area. Overall we have about 475 employees,” said Buonopane. “Our management team had been looking for well over a year for the right facility in the right location when it all came together. They were able to find the right facility that would help us grow our fabrication services while supporting our field service operations. Kennett Square is an attractive area with many great features.”
