THOMAS C. BONIFACINO Thomas Carl Bonifacino, 71, passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic on July 20, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in 1944 in West Grove, Tom was a retired mushroom grower and more recently known as Chef Tom, owner and operator of The Hamilton Cafe, where he pursued his love for cooking with his wife, Marie, in Jacksonville, Fla. He also enjoyed fishing and car races. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marie; five children, Melissa Nicotera (Chuck), Gregory Bonifacino (Maria), Rebecca Crowers (Matthew), Mark O’Steen (Amy), Sarah O’Steen (John); and the joys of his life, his seven beautiful grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Julia Bonfiacino; and his beloved son, Thomas Carl Bonifacino, Jr. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
JOHN Q. GREER, SR. John Q. Greer, Sr., 91, of Nottingham, died on July 5. He served in the 102nd Signal Company in World War II in northern France, and in the Korean War. He was a painter by trade. He is survived by two sons, John Greer, Jr., and wife Pam of Nottingham, and Tom Greer and wife Susan of Raleigh, N.C.; and two daughters, Susann Brown and husband, Mike of Oxford, and Cheryl Greer of Rising Sun, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was married to the late Gladys Pyle Greer for 56 years. She preceded him in death in 2006. Services were private.
SALVADOR TORRES Salvador Torres, 83, of West Grove, formerly of Parkville, Md., passed away on July 28 at his residence. He was the husband of Edith Saylor Torres, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son
of the late Pedro Torres and Adela Aponte. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. In 1957, Salvador joined the Baltimore City Police Department as the first native-born Puerto Rican. He retired in 1987 as a lieutenant. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed boating, the outdoors, and playing guitar. He was a longtime Baltimore Orioles fan, and enjoyed helping people and being with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Salvador Torres and his wife Joann of Waterbury, Conn., and Anthony Torres and his wife Rose of West Grove; two daughters, Debra Linton of Catonsville, Md., and Terri Pumputis and her husband Earl of Reisterstown, Md.; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Marlese and Lianne. He was predeceased by one brother, Ramon Torres; and one sister, Angela Ocasio. His service and burial will be held privately. VICTORIA ROSE MARINI Victoria Rose “Tori” Marini, 24, of Kennett Square, passed away on July 28 at the Pocopson Home. She was the daughter of Victor and Annette Ferraro Marini of Kennett Square. She enjoyed watching music videos, swimming, riding her bicycle and taking walks. She loved to eat, and enjoyed being with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Andrew Marini of Kennett Square,; and her maternal grandmother, Millie Ferraro of Kennett Square. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Charles Ferraro; and her paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Marini. A celebration of her life was held Aug. 2. Valentine E. Walls, 63, a 30-year resident of Cochranville, passed away on July 30 at his residence. He was the husband of Deborah Saverioni, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Cecil and Amelila Gobber Walls. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of the NRA and was active in the Atglen Gun Club. Val enjoyed his cabin in Snow Shoe, hunting, fishing, ATV trails, and being with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Clayton Saverioni-Walls of Cochranville; and two sisters, Debbie Schaefer of Forked River, N.J., and Emily Harris of Arkansas. FREDERICK F. KRAMER III Frederick Franklin Kramer III (“Boomp”), 95, of Kennett Square, passed away on July 24 at the Chester County Hospital. He was the husband of Marian Williams Kramer, with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frederick F. Kramer, Jr., and Jennie June Cordeaux. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1941, and was the first and youngest pilot to solo in his flight class. He served his country during World War II as an aircraft specialist for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company. He worked in his family’s business, Kramer Music House, in Allentown, before becoming the manager of Apple Hill Ski Area in Orefield, Pa. He and Marian moved to Kennett Square in 2004 and became active members of St. Michael Lutheran Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Frederick F. Kramer IV and his wife Patricia of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three daughters, Kimberly Snyder and her husband W. Cordes of Allentown, Kerry Collins and her husband William of Leesburg, Va., and Megan Minella and her husband Louis of Kennett Square; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 15 at St. Michael Lutheran Church (109 E. Doe Run Rd., Unionville). Burial will be private. DAVID J. EGAN David John Egan, born in 1947 in Drexel Hill, died on Aug. 1 in Philadelphia from complications of Mesothelioma. A graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, he was the president and CEO of Cemtech Energy Controls in Media, a company he established 39 years ago. A lover of all of the arts, his true passion was literature, having amassed a collection of over 15,000 books. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Veronica Egan (née McMurtrie); his son David; daughters Kara, Kathleen and Maura; daughter-in-law Madeline Egan; sons-in-law Migue deJong, Scott Taylor and Justin Stefano; his two siblings Gerard Egan and Patricia Gilroy; three grandsons, David John, William, Michiel; many nephews and nieces; and countless friends. His memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at St. Patrick Church (212 Meredith St., Kennett Square). Burial will be private.
