POUR PAINTING WITH YOUR DLE, BRITTANY
Included as a special lesson plan within Brittany’s popular craft workshops. Brittany began pouring paint three years ago and enjoys the uniqueness of the medium. Acrylic Paint Pouring is a fluid technique used to create art by pouring paint onto a canvas, using many methods to apply it to a surface. The Acrylic Pouring technique allows artists to apply color in puddles, pools, and marble-like patterns. It is particularly popular with novices, as it allows residents to create quick paintings with dramatic, contemporary results.
MADISON’S MONTHLY MEETUP
Join Madison McCloskey for a special monthly art workshop; projects include beautiful and functional creations like macrame plant hangers, pottery, and more. Madison’s artistry is centered on wheel-thrown ceramics and macrame. Madison grew up in Naples, and began her practice in Savannah, GA, where she was drawn to wheel throwing classes four years ago. Now back in Naples, she is an instructor and kiln loader at her ceramics studio.
GUIDED ART THERAPY
Mondays in Memory Care
Life Enrichment Coordinator, Vasos
Demosthenes, leads engaging and therapeutic artistic projects with residents and their friends each Monday. Upcoming curriculum may include:
String painting: A popular technique in which an artist dips multiple strings in paint, puts pressure on their canvas, pulls each string to make an intriguing design, all the while exercising hand, eye, wrist, and finger ability.
Coaster decorating: Artists will customize tiles to create functional and decorative coasters in meaningful designs, sparking a little bit more joy with every sip.
Word art: Artists create a shape by using images that relate to a certain word, in a truly unique exercise. Beginning by drawing a randomly-selected word, residents then draw word after word, while drafting interrelated images inspired by each word, activating right and left sides of the brain simultaneously. 8
