ALISHA DENOMME

Art Direction & Design Creative Portfolio: 2014

Some days I’m an Art Director, some days I’m a Designer... but mostly I’m a little loud!”

An award-winning designer from Ontario, Canada found a home in the land of beer and cheese. With a passion for discussion, design, and donuts, she’s powered by coffee and sometimes gets a little loud. As a social being, you’ll find her sending Snapchats with a mouth full of food, checking-in on Foursquare at the local dive bar, or tweeting about #agencylife with the Twitterati. Let’s get talking.

WHEN PASSION MEETS POSITIVITY My obsession with great ideas is what drives my enthusiasm to develop the best solutions for each unique challenge, no matter the size, scale or scope — but it is my unbridled passion and relentless positivity that gets the work done. Working for creative companies of various sizes and disciplines since 2009, in Canada and the United States, I have the experience to jump into any project and hit the ground running. In 2009, I graduated from Georgian College in Canada with a 3-year Advanced Graphic Design Degree, which is a technical degree that taught me the raw production skills needed to juggle projects and meet demanding deadlines. In 2012, I completed my BFA in Communication Design at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design where I was taught to concept and design compelling and creative solutions. In addition to this, my years of experience at small, fast-paced ad agencies has taught me how to be a part of a team and to meet and exceed the needs of our clients. I have a passion for brands and the way consumers experience them. I have worked in large and small ad agencies, a boutique branding firm, and non-profit in-house, all of which has given me an appreciation for working with different kinds of brands: from development to execution, inside out and upside down. And while my experiences have been mainly in design and art direction, I have a life-long love affair with words and love to work with copywriters who are equally smitten. When unbridled passion meets relentless positivity, they create a powerful force that stops at almost nothing — except maybe a jelly-filled donut.

The brand for the Public Relations Society of America, Southeast Wisconsin Chapter: Young Pros defines the Young Pros from the Seasoned Pros by using youthful interpretations of the parent chapter’s brand colors. By blending edgy elements of a rough script in purple with the dignity of silver Univers, the Young Pros appeals to a young, professional demographic without being stuffy. Client: PRSA Southeastern Wisconsin Young Pros August 2013

The Ice Age Trail Alliance is a non-profit organization that maintains the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. They produce 3 newsletters a year along with an Official Atlas and Trail Guidebook. While the client loves their logo, they were upset that the blue was not always consistent. Working on my own, I developed Brand Guidelines to help them keep their brand consistent. It has become a useful tool in their upcoming web site redesign this year. Client: Ice Age Trail Alliance November 2012- June 2014

Newsletter At 24 pages in length, this is the primary communication tool for the IATA to get in touch with members and non-members.

Atlas and Guidebook The Atlas is sold as a shrinkwrapped set of sheets. The Official Guidebook is nearly 1.5 thick and written by IATA members.

Lutheran Home Therapy Center

When Lutheran Home, located in Wauwatosa, added a new Therapy Center to their building, we were asked to come up with the event’s theme, invitations, microsite, hand out, and decorations. Wauwatosa is a Potawatomi word which means “Firefly”. This dovetailed nicely with their existing brand (a butterfly) and encompasses so much more than bugs. The glow of the firefly is reminiscent of childhood excitement and curiosity. The illumination comes from within the firefly itself; a guiding light in the dark. Client: Lutheran Home and Harwood Center November 2013

Pinot centric wine producer from hand-picked quality grapes grown in the Niagara region. The leading post on a vineyard is the what keeps the vines from falling down. Just as we lean on our family and friends for support, the leaning post provides the stability to hold up the weight of the grapes. We not only branded the winery, but developed the labels and included a stationary package. Client: Leaning Post Winery March 2009

To depict an eclipse, it is important to find a dramatic image that builds excitement and anticipation so we chose a close-up image of the moon eclipsing the sun as viewed from outer space. The colors are vibrant and the sliver of light mimics the logo and builds on that anticipation of a complete cover-up. Blocking out the light relates best to the single most important benefit of the Eclipse Dock Shelter – a complete seal. Client: Rite Hite Seals and Shelters March 2014

E-blast and Landing Page The e-blast contains a link that pushes the reader to the landing page to view our informational video about the product.

Direct Mailer A flashlight is a fun way to let consumers know this shelter will block all light from your loading dock. The “Next eclipse is the scheduled launch date of the product.

BIC Lighters are easy, cheap, and ubiquitous; nothing compares to their convenience. Even mythical creatures like the Devil, Dragons, and a Phoenix, who are the embodiment of fire, can still find a need to “flick their Bic.” I produced the original photography and copy. In order to get pictures of beings that don’t really exist, I relied on my photo manipulation abilities. The Devil’s thumb is a picture of my own thumb, the Dragon is a chicken foot, and the Phoenix is an eagle claw with fire. Client: BIC Lighters May 2011 *Milwaukee 99 Show Merit Winner
