Troopers busy with DUI, crashes ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh on April 2 at 6:17 p.m. after observing multiple traffic violations. Trooper Brett Flansburg reports that he observed signs of impairment in the driver, identified as 22-yearold Cory Benoit of Burlington, so the officer screened Benoit for drunkenness. Benoit submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed his blood alcohol content was 0.165 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08. The trooper took Benoit into custody, transported him to the New Haven state police barracks for processing, and cited him for driving under the influence. Benoit is due to answer the charge in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on April 17. In other recent activity, state police: • On March 29 at 6 p.m. stopped a car on Upper Plains Road in Salisbury. Troopers cited the driver, identified as Brittany Roberts, 30, of Ripton, for driving with a criminally suspended license. • On March 29 at approximately 6:30 p.m. went to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 22A near Cross Street in Bridport. Police report that 29-year-old Chandra Khatiwoda if Essex Junction was driving a 2015 Ford truck northbound on Route 22A when she lost control of the vehicle, and it rolled over on the passenger side. Khatiwoda, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt; the vehicle was towed from the scene. Neither alcohol nor drugs were determined to be contributing factors in the collision. • On March 30 announced that they had cited Patrick McCullough, 25, of Granville for selling stolen property. State police say McCullough attempted to sell several firearms and other items stolen in the March 16 burglary of a
Route 64 home in Williamstown. • On March 30 at 8:20 a.m. stopped a silver 2012 Toyota Avalon driven by Cheryl Barrows, 52, of Salisbury for travelling over the posted speed limit on Route 7 in Leicester. Police cited Barrows for driving with a criminally suspended license.

• On March 31 at 5 p.m. received a report of a possible domestic assault that occurred on March 30. After investigating, police said they determined that Brian Bowdish, 30, of Salisbury caused injury to a household member. Troopers cited Bowdish for domestic assault. • On March 31 at approximately 9:25 p.m. responded to a two-car crash on Route 22A near Short Street in Bridport. Suseanne Goulet, 50, of Orwell told police that she was driving a 2003 Chevy Impala southbound on Route 22A on that snowy evening when she struck a chunk of ice or snow that was in the roadway. After she applied her brakes she began to skid and then collided with a northbound vehicle, which police identified as a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi driven by Corey Steadman, 33, of Jericho. Steadman told police that he was driving 25 mph and that he could see a vehicle crossing into his lane of travel and he attempted to steer toward the shoulder to avoid a collision. But the cars struck each other. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision. Both vehicles sustained moderate front-end damage. Neither alcohol nor drugs played a factor in the collision, police said. • On April 1 at just before 4 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Route 17
in New Haven, and cited the driver, identified as Alara Bourgeois, 23, of Bristol, for driving with a criminally suspended license. • On April 2 at approximately 6:46 a.m. responded, along with Middlebury Regional EMS and the New Haven Fire Department, to a one-car crash on River Road near East Street in New Haven. Police report that Amanda Alexander, 35, of Bristol was driving a 2001 Subaru Outback westbound when she lost control of the vehicle due to defective equipment. Alexander reportedly attempted to correct the vehicle, causing the car to travel off the westbound lane and into a utility pole. Alexander was screened by Middlebury Regional EMS and released. The car sustained moderate front-end damage. • On April 3 at approximately 7:43 a.m. responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Quaker Village Road in Weybridge. Police report that a New Holland tractor driven by Dan Kehoa, 58, of Weybridge entered the roadway in front of a 2003 Acura TL driven by Linda Kulhowvick, 66, of Weybridge. Kulhowvick suffered a head laceration as a result of the crash, and Middlebury Regional EMS transported her to Porter Hospital for treatment. Her car was totaled. The tractor and driver were unimpaired. • On Tuesday, April 4, arrested two different men on separate warrants and delivered them to the Addison County Courthouse for arraignment. Officers from the VSP and Middlebury Police Department came in contact with Terrance Derrick, 57, of Middlebury and took him into custody for an outstanding warrant. Separately, troopers came across Jason Bradley, 32, of Salisbury and determined that Bradley had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, so they arrested him.
Vergennes man cited for vandalism VERGENNES — After dealing with a series of complaints about the man earlier last week, Vergennes police on March 30 cited Jacob McDowell, 26, who they described as homeless, for unlawful mischief for allegedly slashing tires on three vehicles in the city. Police said they also issued a no-trespass order to him on behalf of the John Graham Shelter, where he had been staying, and are investigating him in connection with slashed tires on two more vehicles discovered on March 31. After the citation, police said they dropped McDowell off in New Haven Junction at his request. On March 27 and twice on March 29 police said they spoke to McDowell after citizen complaints that they were uncomfortable about him taking multiple pictures of people, passing cars and homes in the Monkton Road area, outside Shaw’s Supermarket and near Gaines Insurance. On the 27th police said he agreed to stop taking pictures, and when police first spoke to him on the 29th police said McDowell described the camera work as his hobby. Police ordered him to leave the area the
final time they spoke to him on March 29. In other action between March 27 and April 2, Vergennes police: • On March 27 informed a South Water Street resident about a death
