LTCOL Genevieve Constantine

At the end of 2009 we sadly said farewell to CPL Ryan Cowgill who was posted on promotion to Townsville. His skills in reception were highly valued and appreciated. CPL Brett Lawler completed his technician course mid year and posted to 2 HSB for the remainder of 2009. He took up a position in Townsville in Jan 2010. CPL Natasha Senior posted into 2 HSB early this year, completed her Pay course and is now posted to 7 CSSB. Good luck Tash and thank you for your time and efforts in the RAADC.

This year has seen a reconfiguration of the Directorates within Joint Health Command (JHC) and the Director, CAPT Brendan Byrne, RAN now has the additional responsibility for health research and is known as the Director Defence Force Dentistry (DDFD)/Director of Health Research Coordination (DHRC). The Directorate is also operating with the majority of its staff remote from Canberra. SO1 DPP, LTCOL Genevieve Constantine works remotely from Darwin, is also working for FORCOMD during the Combat Health Restructure and has the additional appointment of Head of Corps, RAADC. SO1 CDS, WGCDR Mark O’Sullivan works part time, Tuesday to Thursday from Newcastle and WODEN Metcalf has maintained her two Reserve days per week from country Victoria. CPL Liza Wynen continued to provide invaluable administrative support to the Directorate on her one Reserve day per week. The Directorate congratulates WO Penny Stone on her promotion and welcomes her to the Directorate in October 2010. We farewelled LTCOL Kittie Lai as she moved to Brisbane and commenced study towards her MBA. We would like to congratulate Kittie and David on the arrival of their baby boy Zechariah in June this year. The Directorate continues to consult closely with representatives of all three Services, senior specialists and dental officers, and the ADF Dental School. We wish to thank COL Curry, COL Stacey, COL Scott, COL Olive, COL Thurnwald, GPCAPT Mahoney, CMDR Brazier, LTCOL Freeman, WGCDR Cordery, CAPT Jacobsen, WO1 Chiesa and FSGT Fitsgibbon for their excellent support and advice. We all wish you a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a happy and productive 2011.

Back in the Garrison, CAPT Mick Robinson (7 CSSB) took on the role as SDO. He has assumed this role with enthusiasm and carries the mantle handed on by MAJ Chow. SGT Tracey Feillafe adopted the position of Practice Manager at GBDC and is enjoying the challenge of implementing the GAT quality system for GBDC amongst her other new responsibilities. CPL Alexander Wilson, our CPL DA submitted his discharge recently and is making a move to Karratha to drive big trucks. We all wish you well Zac. CPL Haydee Stevens our resident hygienist is at the tail end of her Bachelor of Social Science in Counselling and she is looking forward to focusing on her career on completion. PTE Lisa Blencowe did the Enoggera shuffle from 2 HSB and has had her civilian technician course recognised. She is now putting her skills to good use in the Dental lab. PTE Larissa Kulk (Locke) came to us fresh from HMAS Cerberus in April and is adding an artistic flare to Dental. Welcome ‘Locke’ and Lisa! Finally, GBDC would not be able to function as well as it does, if it were not for our wonderful civilian and Reserve members. A big thank you to all who work with us each day, and to those who take time away from their private practices to assist when we need that extra hand. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work. It is appreciated. Wishing you all a safe, happy and healthy remainder of 2010.

JHC-SQ Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, QLD SGT Tracey Feillafe Hello again from Brisbane! Let us fill you in on the goings on here in the last twelve months. The later half of 2009 saw the JHC-SQ staff along with our mates from 7 CSSB and 2 HSB combine to tackle 7 Brigade Dental Readiness for deployment. Many long hours were spent coordinating and treating deploying personnel. To our Garrison dependency, if you read this, we thank you for your patience
