Randwick Health Centre – Dental Randwick Barracks, Randwick, NSW CPL Kellie Davies and CPL Sarah Harrison Hello to all fellow Corps members from Randwick Dental. Just like every other year, there is a continuous cycle of promotions, postings and discharges and here at Randwick Barracks we are no exception. 2008 ended in style with a cruise on the Sydney Harbour for the Health Coy Christmas Party. During the cruise, farewells were conducted as we docked in one of the many beautiful bays. There was a mass exodus with MAJ Werner Voss, CPL Sonia Nicholls, CPL Joanne Reed, CPL Kim Stephens, PTE Ryan Cowgill and PTE Maddie Gurkin, all posted out for the promise of warmer climates elsewhere. The start of 2009 began with the march in and (surprise) out of our new OC, MAJ Jeff Ong. After one week of being posted in from Holsworthy, he left and is now working at Irwin Barracks in Perth as a civilian dentist. His discharge left WO2 Ursula Friend as our acting OC. In late March we welcomed the new OC, MAJ Brett Dick (RAAMC). CPL Kempster has had a busy time this year. He went on his Subject 1 for SGT at late notice, and on return, went to support 1HSB on AACAP for 3 weeks in Weipa. The following week he went to HMAS KUTTABUL to assist in the laboratory while the technician was on leave. While he was away, CPL Davies (posted in from 3CSSB) has been holding the fort in the laboratory and performing her magic with the constant influx of crowns and dentures. CPL Sarah Harrison was newly promoted at the end of 2008 and was posted in from 3CSSB. Jade, our civilian DA joined us late last year. CPL Harrison and Jade are busily keeping things on track at Randwick Barracks, as well as running the desk and surgery over at Victoria Barracks 2 days a week. The back bones of the unit are SGT Nikki Kirkhope, the dental supervisor, and WO2 Ursula Friend, the WODEN. SGT Kirkhope keeps the place running like clockwork and is the guru on all things policy, especially when it comes to reservists. WO2 Friend divides her clinical time as a hygienist between Randwick Barracks and Victoria Barracks.
Dr Hayes and his wife Tamara on the birth of their baby girl Piper in March. That’s it from Randwick Dental. It has been a great year so far. We are not short of work, personalities or PT, and have decided we are never leaving.

Army Reserve Units Dental Platoon 5 CSSB Banksmeadow, NSW MAJ Keith Heap
It wouldn’t be much of a dental unit without our dentists, Dr Murray Hayes and Dr Christine Williams. Dr Williams has taken her family for a holiday in Fiji as we write. Congratulations go to CADMUS 2009
Hello from 5CSSB. I’ve been actively involved in conducting dental exams for 5BDE soldiers at 5CSSB and 1HSB. I would like to say thank you to PTE Lauren Morgan who generously helped out on these weekends for the dental support tasks. Life at 5CSSB has been rewarding, knowing that the Reserve soldiers are very grateful that they can be examined, particularly those from the rural and remote areas. Another thank you goes to COL Murray Hayes, CAPT Amanda Leen and PTE Lauren Morgan, who generously put their hands up to help with providing dental exams to RCB-
