PTE Evan Watson-Keast is working hard in surgery and is off to the Philippines for holidays next week. PTE Nancy Havili is our storeman and is doing a great job both in surgery and managing stores. PTE Lisa Blencowe marched in straight from ADFDS in December 2008 and has been doing really well. Lisa is a qualified dental technician in civilian street, but had to start somewhere in the Army. We farewelled PTE Miranda Capstaff on maternity leave. PTE Jason Wilding joined us from 1HSB - he has been working with LTCOL Atkins and is getting ready for his technician course. PTE Rhianon Farley has arrived from 3CSSB and is getting all ‘coursed up’ in preparation for her technician course. Rhianon and Jason will be leaving us to commence LTS in June - good luck guys! CPL Lizzie Browne has been posted from Darling Downs to the CPL SDAP position in 2HSB. In between courses and work, she is planning her wedding in October. This sums up the hustle and bustle of 2HSB. CPL Davies also recently gave birth to her daughter Sophie – congratulations! PTE Ryan Cowgill posted in from Randwick Health Centre and successfully completed his JLC in June 2009. WO1 Wayne Butler moved from HMAS CERBERUS to Gallipoli Barracks to oversee the dental technician training and mentor the trainee technicians alongside the TAFE curriculum. The newest trainee technicians are PTE Jason Wilding and PTE Rhianon Farley, both were posted across from 2HSB mid-2009. One of the stayers is CPL Tash Senior who gave birth to her son James. CPL Senior will be Corps-transferring to RAAPC, and will sadly be leaving ‘Team Dental’ in May 2010. All the military staff would like to thank the civilian staff for all their work and dedication in the past year. Miss Riss, our only APS staff, is still rocking the reception. Greetings from the Sunshine State! The past year has seen a changing of the guard and a name change - we have been renamed JHC-SQ from JHSA-SQ. We said goodbye to PTE Tony Anderson when he discharged in November 2008 - he promptly grew a beard and got a few more ‘tatts’. We also said goodbye to PTE Kerrie Redford who discharged in August 2008 and then married the love of her life. SGT Doug Honess discharged in January 2009 after many months of training to be a train driver and is now working with Queensland Rail. CPL Rob Pyke posted across to 7 CSSB as their resident technician and is currently on Subject 1 for SGT. CPL Brett Lawler has successfully completed his technician course and will be posted to 2HSB before a posting to 3CSSB in 2010. Good luck to you all!
Another year has passed at 1HSB and as usual, a great deal has been accomplished. CAPT Amanda ‘not so mean, keep ‘em keen’ Leen joined us as our OIC. Ma’am has been kept busy with the many roles of DO and the extra responsibilities of OIC. CAPT Leen also provided dental support to 3BDE for pre-deployment exams in Townsville and participated in AACAP16 (2009). SGT ‘welcome to my world’ Kilpatrick has worn a few different hats over the past 12 months, but has mostly been performing the PL SGT role. He is now on LSL until late September, having a well deserved rest and to do some more work on the Hummer (due for completion sometime before CRA). CPL Adam ‘instant family man’ Collins returned to 1HSB after his TDY to RHC and took up the laboratory supervisor role. He welcomed his first child, a baby girl Chesapeake Atamahina in April. Mr Mark ‘ex ARA, ex RAAF Williamtown, ex Duntroon’ Morris joined us in June and has been carrying the technician workload in both SGT Kilpatrick’s and CPL Collins’ absences.
After the goodbye, we started 2009 with many new members. We welcomed ‘The Voice’ SGT Tracey Feillafe from 7CSSB to become the Clinical Supervisor of GBDC. SGT Feillafe completed her Subject 1 for WO with very good results. CPL Alexander ‘Zac’ Wilson, also joined us from 7CSSB and is the CPL DA of GBDC. CPL Haydee Stevens joined us from 2HSB to be our SDAP and is CADMUS 2009
