this year as she takes on a posting to Singleton in 2009. We will miss her sense of humour and quick wit. Jacky McGrath runs the orderly room at Oakey and also assists regularly. Jacky has taken an interest in floristry so whenever flowers are needed she is the one to supply them. Danielle White, our DA for one day a week, has given notice that she is having a sea change and will be leaving us at the end of the year. Good luck Danielle. We welcomed LCPL Kalisa Winn, not only to the unit, but back from the civilian land. Kalisa has headed off on her SDA course. PTE Bobbi Barry departed at the end of 2007 to 3CSSB and we miss her infectious personality and her stories about her cats. We have also farewell from Cabarlah our civilian dentist Dr Marie Wilson and our civilian hygienist Dinah Haswel as they both have taken on more hours in private practice. That’s it from Darling Downs, until next year keep smiling.

Hunter Valley Dental Services Lone Pine Barracks, Singleton, NSW CPL Tammy Guganovic Greetings from the happy team at Hunter Valley. First off, I would like to farewell SGT Heidi Mayall (Heidi Ho). SGT Mayall has decided to trade in the green and continue her work in the civilian world as a hygienist. Heidi will stay in the Hunter Valley area with her partner James, Harry (her Dachshund) and her wonderful parents. Heidi will transfer to the Reserves in September 2008. We will miss Heidi’s bubby personality and wish her the very best of luck and hope to see her back at HVDS as our GRES hygienist. It is no exaggeration that we are only getting busier here at Singo. The changes within the IET course and the introduction of the Gap Year, have significantly generated a lot of work load across the board. HVDS are now administering more staff, IET’S GRES, then ever before. With our staffing levels at an all time low, we are down to one ARA member. CPL Tammy Guganovic has been selected to attend the 2009 Dental Technician course. Working alongside are our faithful stayers Dr Paul Morton and Mrs Liz Burke. Liz has been keeping the front desk cyclone under control which happens about 3 days a week. She continues to plough through the endless paperwork and the MIMI updates. Well done Lizzy! Dr Paul Morton continues to take his extended adventures (holidays) every year. He is finally listening to his DA and learning to write in the codes on documents. Well done Dr Morton! Our happy little unit could not run as efficiently as it does without our fabulous civilian staff. Thankyou for making my time at HVDS as enjoyable as it has been.

Kapooka Health Centre - Dental Blamey Barracks, Kapooka, NSW Ms Debra Griffin Wow how time flies, another year gone, 6,000 recruits have passed through our doors and we have a new health contractor (RED Alliance) who we are happy to welcome on board. We have had a huge change in staff at the beginning of this year. Replacing the ever funny PTE Zac Wilson (who has gone to sunny BrisVegas to further his military career), we welcome on board 78

Malinda Knight as our full time dental assistant. Hope we don’t get any strong winds in Kapooka, as we may loose Malinda to the wind (she is little). Malinda is off overseas with her partner in October; the same time as our new SDA Kate Skeers is due to have her second baby. Just as well our remaining SDA Debbie Buchanan will step in and fill some of the gaps in between running around after her new grandson and the RAAF base. Rachel Maden has joined us from Sydney following her husband Ian who is a RAAFY. Rachel is our APS receptionist, and with her DA training, her skill is a bonus when it comes to triage. We have our ever wonderful Dr Miles Connell SDA Kapooka still running between Kapooka and the RAAF base. We look after him by always shouting the beer on a Thursday after charting. Just to keep him inspired to come back for the next round of recruits. Dr Sharma Nand, our soccer maniac, is still with us. If we have a spare two seconds, Sharma is watching soccer. His team is undefeated, so far, this year. The Kapooka and RAAF Dental teams will be there for the grand final shaking the pom poms to cheer his team to victory. Dr Robert Vella is settling in with us and our new change of contractors by being made to attend the many BBQ and social functions, which we have made mandatory (in house joke). We have had a hard year (not mentioning the lack of PM341) but an enormous amount of fun has been had by all. I would like to take the time to congratulate the team on an awesome effort. As the practise manager my job has been made easy with such an effective team. Our OC MAJ Annette Newell is very supportive and her guidance is much appreciated. We thank her for that. Dental have a strange sense of humour of which she has been patient.

Medical and Dental Services Karrakatta Irwin Barracks, Perth, WA CPL Jane Roberts If you think you are stuck in a time warp, you are probably posted to WA. Daylight savings is still on trial and Sunday trading is still a novelty. We have farewelled, yet another, OC MAJ Steve Prigg (RAAMC), who remains a PTI at heart. Dr David Rees left us to take up the Senior Dentist position at RAAF Base Amberley in Brisbane. CPL Kelly Miller has been detached to 13CSSB until the end of the year and will be posted there on promotion in 2009. At the end of the year, we will farewell Dr Lyle Henderson who has worked for us on a part time bases for over 30 years with his wife Dr Erica Yates. We said good bye to SGT Gaven Hogan half way through the year. She did hygiene for us on a part time basis and now her husband Danny has been posted to the USA for two years and he is taking the family with him. The additions to the unit include the new OC MAJ Djordje Zlatkovic from 3CSSB in Townsville, who is keeping our medical family in toe and spending some time at HMAS STRILING with the Navy Dental doing surgical extractions. PTE Sarah Fisk joined us from 2HSB in Brisbane. Since arriving she has competed in the Inter Service Snow Boarding competition and is off for a three week skiing holiday in NZ. The stayers are fewer: LTCOL Darryl Andrews, Dr Greg Gee, his lovely assistant Lizzy Vears, and of course, me. It has taken me forever to get here and I am not leaving (CPL Jane Roberts). We have had another busy year keeping all our members AIRN compliant, especially our SASR boys who like to bug out overseas CADMUS 2008
