NUEROSCIENCE TREE 3 X 4.5 X 3.5 M

At ECTRIMS 2018, I helped create an experiential journey through the challenging topic of neuroscience diseases. A tree of light symbolised the brain’s neuron network, enlightening and connecting delegates to patients while the tree’s magnitude depicted the brand’s heritage.

Over three years I was integrally involved with Fredrikson Stallard’s work, verbally and visually communicating with some of the leading names in contemporary design; David Gill Galleries, Jaguar, Brioni, LVMH, LDF, Wallpaper Magazine* & more. An exemplary aspect of my work here was assisting in the management of productions for Fredrikson

Stallard’s ‘Momentum’ exhibition for London Design Festival 2015, I was largely involved in the manufacture of their artworks, the production of the exhibition environment and kept good relations between suppliers & manufactures. I also delegated tasks to a team of two interns to ease the general running of the studio.

“A BEAUTY OF THINGS IMPERFECT, IMPERMANENT, AND INCOMPLETE.” Through the research for this project, I unintentionally found a waste problem within the marble & steel industry. Offcuts of marble & old spun metal are redeemed from destruction and used to create UHÀHFWLYH SLHFHV WKDW GHPDQG an emotional as much as an artistic response. I intended to challenge western ideals of beauty and explore how a negative action,

in this case destruction, could become something positive through design. Inspired by Oriental philosophy and ideals of ‘creative destruction’, the collection has done just that. In it we explore the Japanese philosophy of ‘Wabi-Sabi’; “a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.” Through it, we are made aware of the organic and natural beauty that surrounds us.

SYMMETRY IN CHAOS

REFLECTION The polished steel exposes a moment of destruction, spiraling wildly with enormous energy, and giving life back to the once forgotten marble fragment.

FRAGMENT

ORIGIN By using fragmental offcuts - once thought waste - as forms for artistic products, the fragments are given new life. Despite being designed into practical products, the multifaceted meaning of the work stimulates deeper thought DQG UHÀHFWLRQ EH\RQG MXVW its use. The fragments are transformed into a piece with transcendental

beauty, that calls for a closer look. It’s as if the careful tailoring and artistic respect of the natural, once forgotten shapes, creates an artifact that demands observation. It is on this premise that this collection sits: design that provokes thought, stimulates emotion, and brings depth to our surroundings.
