The lines in this advertisement are strong, thick lines that start from the bottom and guide your eyes to the car. The lines almost seems like they transform into a road and the car is waiting for you to take you along. • Please describe the effectiveness of the use of LINE in this design. I believe this works well because it gives you a sense of direction. The lines are leading you to the car and you would just drive away with it.

• Who is the primary audience of the advertisement?

The primary audience for this advertisement is anyone who is interested in purchasing a new car. It may possibly targeting teenagers who are just getting their license.

In this website, the shape is clearly there. When you highlight a shape it displays an image. The shapes are placed in a organized fashion. The shapes guide you to each different image inside the shape.

I believe it works well because it shows the shapes in different sections of the site. As you scroll down and have a certain shape highlighted, you see a different image each time.

• Who is the primary audience of the website?

The primary audience would have to be any type of graphic/web designer.



Texture: • What is the product being advertised?

The product being advertised is a video game called “Alpha Protocol.”

In this ad, you could visually touch the roughness of image. The rip across the character’s eyes creating the rectangular shape. Creates a mood, a mysterious character in the desert (dark, cold, and mysterious).

• Please describe the effectiveness of the use of TEXTURE in this design. Do you think it works well, and why? This works well because you could almost feel everything. The fabrics around the character’s head, the sand blowing across his face, the hairs on his face as well. The ad as a whole just screams out texture. Making you think the video game would graphically look and feel real to the viewer. • Who is the primary audience of the advertisement or website? The primary audience for this advertisement is targeting gamers (mostly men) who enjoy playing first-person shooters, military-based, and RPG (role-playing games) games. The age range would be 16-18.

The ad shows a mood of hungry, wanting to buy that delicious flavored ice cream. The text in between the product and the light green colors creates a free-flowing feeling, relaxed. It’s a symmetrical balance because it creates an equal balance to the viewing eye. It makes you want to look at both sides of the ad to find out what type of ice cream the product is trying to sell.

• Please describe the effectiveness of the use of BALANCE in this design. Do you think it works well, and why? * I believe it works well because it catches your eye the moment you see something that says “FREE.” Anyone reading this would think, “A free bra with a skinny cow ice cream? Where can I get that?” It makes you curious and makes you look at the bottom to read how you can get that free bra. • Who is the primary audience of the advertisement?

The primary audience of this advertisement is to women. More towards women around the age of 18-35 and showing at the left bottom corner is clearly targeting women with the bra on the side of the text, “The Perfect Cup.”

The contrasting value goes from black to white, on the side creates a gradient leading your eye to the product (which is being displayed is the Sony Alpha a77 DSLR and the new digital camera with a interchangeable lens). Again, the two cameras contrast in both color and shape, (big to small and black and white). Contrasting texture; from the smooth, solid white background to the DSLR cameras (creates the feel that you could reach out and grab the camera). The type next to camera, standing out is “A whole new image.” Following with the small text of what it tries pull you in more.

• Please describe the effectiveness of the use of CONTRAST in this design. Do you think it works well, and why? I believe it works well all the focal point is leading you to the subject (which is the Sony cameras). • Who is the primary audience of the website? The primary audience would be any gender (men and women). Anyone who has a Sony product or to bring people who has never bought or used a Sony product.



Unity:

The product being advertised is a hair product called “Catwalk.”

The advertisement provides a consistency by displaying three models with different hairstyle looks and making each one different from each other, but is the same. It’s grouped in an organized order. It leads the viewer’s eye by looking at each image and guiding you to the bottom with the product displaying and was used for the styles.

• Please describe the effectiveness of the use of UNITY in this design. This advertisement is effective in using unity because it’s not the same model displaying the product. They used three for six different styles. It’s a clean and organized design. • Who is the primary audience of the advertisement?

Women and possibly teens (16+) would be their primary audience.

On the home page of this site, the secondary color being used (the different shades of purple) gives off that rich feeling like a sense of something sweet. The bright colored lines guide your eyes to another link of possible goodies (new candy, chocolate, etc). It gives off a calm, relaxing feeling because it makes you want to eat chocolate and usually chocolate is eaten when you want to take a break.

It’s effective because the color is used in different shades, from dark to light.

• Who is the primary audience of the website?

The primary audience for this website would be from children to adults. Anyone who enjoys candy or chocolates is targeted to this website.

The website is about a UK wedding singer named Howard Wing. www.howardwing.co.uk • VALUE is being used in the design in the following way(s): X Creates a mood or feeling X Creates contrast X Creates movement and direction • Please thoroughly explain your answer to the question above and analyze/ describe in your own words how this advertisement or website uses VALUE. Calm, relax, warm feeling from looking at this site. The gradient of black to dark magenta creates a contrast feel. Also the gradient moves from left to right, almost leading you to the singer. • Please describe the effectiveness of the use of VALUE in this design. This site works well because color is a gradient from black to a dark magenta, guiding the viewer from the black to the male singer sitting in the magenta shade. • Who is the primary audience of the advertisement or website? The primary audience could be any who is engaged, wedding planners, family members planning a wedding.
