New bike racks provide nearly 100 new parking stalls in Rosemount space to accommodate new bike racks. The existing bike racks at the Robert Trail Library and Church of St. Joseph and school were either too few in number or worn down. The new racks consist of durable steel tubes that are covered by a thermoplastic coating, which enabled the city to customize them with its own paint job. “Part of what we wanted to do was to put in a long-lasting product and to increase the visibility of the racks,” Lindahl said. “They’re all a Rosemount green.” Abby Anderson, 17, of Rosemount bikes frequently from her home to the Robert Trail Library in the summer. “My parents are both teachers, so they’re working this week,” Abby said. “So, I used my bike to get into town. It’s a nice ride, really, and it gives me exercise in the summer.” Abby said she immediately noticed the bike racks on Aug. 31, the first time she had been to the library since

On Aug. 23, the city installed nine new bike racks at various locations across the city. Receiving one new rack each are the Robert Trail Library, American Legion Post 65, and the First Baptist Church and School, said Rosemount City Planner Jason Lindahl. The Church of St. Joseph and its school and the Community of Hope Church each received three new racks, Lindahl said. In total, 94 bike stalls were added as part of the project, which was funded by a $10,500 State Health Improvement Program grant the city received. This summer, the city mailed a postcard to each business and nonprofit organization in Rosemount seeking to generate interest in the bike racks, said Lindahl. Within two weeks, the city received 10 responses, some of which were locations that didn’t have the room or
