Our Partners in Peru

AA Chance In Life partnered with local organization, Congregation of Christian Brothers, in Peru since 2018. This organization is serving to 260 children who live on the desert areas of Nuevo Chimbote, an informal settlement outside the city of Chimbote which lacks almost all basic services, through Nuevo Horizonte School Nuevo Horizonte offers schooling and family outreach programs to ensure a healthy home environment along with working with the children and their families to provide them with a safe and inclusive space where they can thrive academically

Nationwide, all children in Peru are participating in remote learning during 2020 and 2021. Because many of these young people do not have steady access to the internet, A Chance In Life sent twenty tablets to our program partners to facilitate remote learning We also provided several SIM cards to families with cell phones, so that their children could access remote learning on their parents’ cell phones.

Our Partner organization's staff are conducting home visits to check in with families and ensure the young people are keeping up with their schoolwork. Program staff have found that remote learning has offered the unexpected opportunity to form closer relationships with parents, and gather more insight into their home situations

Peru had one of the strongest stringency measures during the lockdown in 2020, A Chance In Life provided emergency food supplies throughout the pandemic to support the families in Nuevo Chimbote.
