Our Partners in Uganda

AA Chance In Life has partnered since 2019 with She Unit Uganda, a community based organization serving at-risk young mothers in Kampala, Uganda. She Unit Uganda provides young mothers and young single mothers with vocational training in cosmetology. This partnership started in memory of Paula Cangialosi, a longtime supporter of A Chance In Life and lifelong advocate for at-risk children

At She Unit Uganda young women have another opportunity to learn skills so they can access a secure source of income and cover the basic needs of their children These young mothers receive technical training in hairdressing, makeup, pedicures and manicures. These high-demand skills help the women find employment and cover their basic needs.

Our Partner organization in Uganda also provides young mothers with a community, network of support and the chance to share and workshop their business plans with other women. This year, the program has expanded to serve an additional 300 girls in the surrounding village of Wamala, by teaching them how to make liquid hand soap, shampoos and hair conditioner These products are sold to local hotel chains and businesses by the women. These young mother not only receive training but also the opportunity to start a business.

During COVID-19 lockdown in Uganda, A Chance In Life provided with food to be distributed to the families of the young mothers who were starving.
