YYoung people in Guatemala, particularly indigenous from rural areas, face a host of obstacles to completing school and building their own future. A Chance In Life works to remove those barriers and provide every child with the resources they need to succeed. Since 2018, we partnered with local organizations serving the most vulnerable children in Guatemala We work in collaboration with home for boys Centro Vocacional San José, located in Guatemala City, and home for girls Santa Rosa de Lima serving girls in Cuilapa town. These two organizations serve over 160 boys and girls who come from the poorest indigenous families of the most impoverished rural areas of Guatemala

Our Partner in Guatemala City supports young men in high school and provides them with vocational training courses in baking, electricity, carpentry, welding and among others so they can access formal jobs and continue with their education Our Partner organization in Cuilapa ensures that girls from the poorest families have the resources they need to finish school and access vocational training or university studies.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic having hit Guatemala particularly hard, in early 2021, all boys and girls were able to return to our partner programs as for many families, it was too difficult to adequately feed their children while remaining unemployed throughout the pandemic In Guatemala City, the boys are participating in distance learning for all academic classes, but continuing their vocational training courses in person. During the lockdowns, A Chance In Life provided the families with emergency food supplies to endure the pandemic.
