The Dali Museum Presents

Magritte & Dali Coverage and photos by Melissa W. Martino

he Magritte & Dali exhibit at the Dali Museum is the first time the two surrealist icons have had a solo pairing. Magritte & Dalí takes viewers on a journey from the late 1920s to the early 1940s, the period when the two artists spent significant time together and displayed their works in the same Surrealist exhibitions. Although both had very different and distinctive approaches to their respective paintings, they were equally committed to implementing practices that challenged reality and generated fuller freedom of imagination and experience. Their works also employ several shared themes which are explored throughout the exhibition. Over 30 works are on display including photos of the artists. Visitors will enjoy the special interactive “cloud room” and the opportunity to capture images of themselves intermingled with surrealist icons & symbols. The exhibit continues through May 19, 2019.
