ACCA’s Leaders of Tomorrow programme

Information for potential candidates and employers

What is the Leaders of Tomorrow programme? The businesses we work with tell us that the challenge of developing a pipeline of future finance leaders is significant. A recent survey of 500 global CFOs and finance directors told us they require strong technical finance capabilities balanced with broader leadership capabilities. Recognising this, we now invite newly qualified ACCA members, and employers to nominate themselves or employees with high potential to participate in an outstanding programme which will contribute to the development of future finance leaders. The selected 2017 cohort will participate in a diverse range of high-quality development opportunities – from media training to personality profiling – equipping them with the breadth of financial and business understanding to become a complete and flexible finance leader.

This course was a fantastic opportunity to learn valuable soft skills whilst simultaneously meeting a variety of people in different industries with whom I can discuss ideas and build a strong support network. Gareth Williams Finance Business Partner – Cokemaking & Burdening, Tata Steel

I would sum up my experience of the LoT programme as a great way to meet a variety of people from different backgrounds and learn from their experiences, as well as providing exposure to a wide range of skilled advisers.

• what they will want from an interview and how interviewees can take control of the situation. Participants will have opportunities to put their learning into practice by undertaking mock interviews on real issues in front of the camera, exposing them to thinking around how best to construct suitable messages.

ABOUT… MYERS BRIGGS PERSONALITY PROFILING The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The MBTI was constructed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers. It is based on the typological theory proposed by Carl Jung who had speculated that there are four principal psychological functions by which humans experience the world – sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking – and that one of these four functions is dominant for a person most of the time. The underlying assumption of the MBTI is that we all have specific preferences in the way we construe our experiences, and these preferences underlie our interests, needs, values, and motivation. We will be using the MBTI to achieve the following: • exploring the results of the questionnaires • experiencing the impact of personal differences in a series of group and individual fun activities • identifying the implications of each person’s style for how they come across to others and how others come across to them • how to be even more effective as an individual and in a team.
