San Francisco “San Francisco, combined with neighboring San Jose and Oakland and colloquially referred to as the Bay Area, has a population of approximately 8 million making it the second densest city in the US, behind only NY. In terms of median household income, San Francisco is one of the most affluent cities in the US. Additionally, San Francisco has one of the highest percentage of residents with a college degree in the country and an unemployment rate of 4.7%, lower than that of New York City and California, which are 6.9% and 7.4% respectively. San Francisco’s low retail vacancy rate of 2.3% makes it one of the most competitive, sought after retail markets in the country.
