Interference Janine Jembere A 1978 superhit by ( يلدنب ةلئاعthe Bendali Family) asks in its lyrics three simple yet urgent questions: Do you love me? Do you need me? Do you want me? Challenged by these questions of relation, Interference looks at what being loved, needed, or wanted is translated into when negotiated between differing bodies and positions. Janine Jembere’s works revolve around senses and the body, mainly questioning concepts of representation/translatability, race, and gender. She is interested in the resonances of embodied knowledge, sensual hierarchies, and the concept of dissonance as a tool to think and live within difference.
