which holds an advisory warning not to have more than two. Sally only needed one before she was slurring… I ordered the dirtiest sounding burger I could find, the “Peter Green” – aged beef patty, Texan all steak chilli, cheese, American mustard and jalapenos. I couldn’t resist adding the extra patty too, along with a side of portswood poutine (fries topped with braised beef cheese curds and deep gravy) for Sally, and frickles (fried pickles) for me. I loosened my belt in anticipation… The weeks of me hounding Sally were finally rewarded. My burger came out looking just like the dirty sexy burger in the “coming soon” posters and I don’t think I have ever been happier than that moment when it was placed in front of me (sorry Sally). 7bone certainly know how to cook up a fine burger! Fresh sweet bun encased patties which were of obvious high-quality meat, cooked to perfection, slightly pink (you can order well done if you are a heathen) perfectly spiced and full of flavour. The chilli had kick, but was more of a back-heat than being in-your-face, so it didn’t overpower the taste of the patties. The oozing cheese almost brought a tear of joy to my eye. Sally looked very happy with her selection too as she dunked chunks of her burger into the gravy and greedily shoved them in her mouth. The frickles were delightfully light and crispy and
accompanying creamy blue cheese sauce complimented the tanginess of the pickle. The poutine was pure filth and we loved every mouthful. Unsurprisingly there isn’t a dessert menu as such, as I can’t see anyone having any room for sweets after eating here. However, if you do have a sweet tooth there is always the option of a milkshake to finish you off. We shared the special ‘Christmas chocolate balls shake’ and added a shot of Frangelico. I tell you what, it might as well have been advertised as a dessert as it was so thick and creamy it was difficult to suck through the straw. But oh my, it was delicious and we (somehow) managed to polish off the lot. A top night left us waddling home, deeply satisfied with both the food and the experience to boot. What a friendly bunch! I’ll be dreaming of 7bone burgers for months to come now and will return soon.
