Balham gets racist graffiti Travis Perkins, next to Faraday House, had racist graffiti daubed across the store front. Such graffitis have been condemned by community leaders including by MP Sadiq Khan. The graffiti which insults people from Pakistan which was spotted on last Thursday morning on shops and in residential areas between Hazelbourne road and Faraday House, in Balham Hill. The council's graffiti removal team was called out last week to remove identical messages from the area. In one instance, the culprit repeated the same slogans just hours
after it had been painted over by council staff. The messages were all written in similar handwriting using a marker pen. Local residents and business owners say that this is the first incident of racist graffiti in the area in recent times. A multi-faith peace ceremony took place outside Tooting Broadway station to celebrate the borough's diverse communities. The event, organised by Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA), saw faiths ranging from Muslim to Jewish being represented at the vigil.
Business tycoon jailed A business tycoon has been jailed for four years for laundering £600,000 stolen from a tourist attraction as reported by the Court News UK. Sonit Shringi, 32, tried to clean up the cash after it was taken by fraudsters from the Museum of London and the Barbican Centre. The swindlers got their hands on the money
by posing as contractors carrying out renovation work at the central London sites. Sonit Shringi, 32, apparently tried to conceal cash taken by the gang and passed it through a number of companies by buying and selling Nokia mobile handsets before sending the money out of the country.

Firearms officer cleared of supplying steroids to friends A body-building firearms officer has been cleared of illegally supplying steroids to his friends. Pc Jarnail Virdee, 43, was accused of acting as a 'gobetween' for customers who wanted to buy the banned drug from British-
based firm HGH Laboratories. Possessing and using steroids, which can be obtained legitimately with a doctor's prescription, is not a crime under English law but supplying the drug is illegal.
