n 1894 Delray Beach was know as the town of Linton but in 1898 the town of Linton officially changed it’s name to the city of Delray. In 1923, the area east of the Intracoastal Waterway incorporated as the town of Delray Beach, however; in 1927 the city of Delray and the town of Delray Beach merged to form the city of Delray Beach. In 1910 the town of Delray had only 904 inhabitants...today the city of Delray Beach’s population has swollen to 62,357.
