Final Model
My design for this project is best represented by the final model whereby I experimented with different palettes of acrylic for the design of the building, and used MDF for elements of the surrounding context. I believed this to be the best approach to the design of my model because this way I would be able to display the functionality of the sports centre without referring to any floor plans or other documentation and by just simply viewing the interior through the transparency of the roof and certain parts of the structure. This approach worked effectively in the large open spaces such as the swimming pool section (located at the rear of the building, better illustrated on next page). For other parts of the model I used a translucent, blue coloured acrylic to best portray the architectural form of the building which I felt to be a distinctive aspect of the model.
