What are C Channel and U Channel Channels are named according to the shapes that they have. For instance, C channel is named so because it looks like the letter C. The same thing is true with the U channels and hat channels. Many manufacturers of channels today are offering a wide range of channel shape apart from C, hat and U channels. The size chart can give dimensions as they would be in prints with the gap or opening on the bottom or top instead of on the side.
