Project proposal title and date: Short Film and Production Bible

Main area of activity Film, Web Design

Rationale:

Over the year, the course I am continuing has taught me a variety of skills and knowledge that I can put together and use in future projects. I have noticed my skills progress in editing using the Adobe Software’s such as Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I enjoy using these software’s as once I can now demonstrate the basic skills needed which enables me to experiment with new techniques and explore the effects panel I plan on using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit my short film as this software is what I have used the most and feel the most confident in using. Due to this I will be able to edit my short film within a week which helps with time management. When creating my first project this year, it was a music video where I found that editing with sound and clips enables me to trim clips to match the beat easier which makes the film flow more visually- this is a helpful technique I hope to include in my FMP. Another project useful for my FMP is my audio project. In this project I used music, sound effects and voice overs which is also what I would like to include in my FMP As I have had previous experience with these skills, the audio clips will blend naturally and sound clean. Finally, another previous project I will take into consideration is the print work. I plan on creating a production bible with my short film that will document all the behind the scenes and pre-production This will be a physical and digital coy that I will create using Adobe Photoshop.

Project Concept:

The concept of my project is a short film based around The Orange poem by Wendy Cope. The poem is about how sharing oranges in your youth can represent change, friendship, and childhood. I believe this poem relates well within the Coming-of-age genre and allows me to include this poem as narration over the scenes. This short film is going to focus on cinematography and reflect a feeling of nostalgia. Furthermore, I need to conduct research on the audiences that films within this genre appeals to and why these specific audiences may enjoy it. By researching this, I can find which popular trends invite specific audiences so my short film can appeal to a range of audiences. I also need to research coming-of-age films and document the trends I find within the modern films and older films and why these factors place these films within the genre.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:

My evaluation will be carefully reviewed piece by piece and I will keep note of my progress through a production diary. This diary will be updated weekly as I continue my production. When I finish my production and begin evaluating, I will discuss my overall review in chronological order. This way I can point out the parts I need more practise with and how I can solve this in future scenarios within my career. I will also ask my peers to view my work and ask them for a second opinion.
