Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Wednesday reviewed the Karachi police’s security plan for Muharram 9. A police statement here said that on Muharram 9 about 700 big and small mourning processions would be taken out and some 280 majalis would be held. The IGP was informed in a report regarding the Muharram contingency plan that the security under the police force deployment is being made extraordinary also for the mosques, Imambargahs and Maradis in the metropolis. While reviewing the plan, the IGP directed that the minute to minute report and information regarding the processions and Majalis be communicated to the Central Command and Control Centre/Muharram Security Monitoring Room set up at the Central Police Office (CPO). He said that the monitoring especially of the main processions be undertaken through surveillance cameras and the security personnel should remain very vigilant.

Lonikot area of Hyderabad. As a result of accident, two persons were killed on the spot while 20 others sustained injuries. Police and rescue personnel shifted the wounded persons to different hospitals of Hyderabad and Jamshoro where, according to hospital sources, condition of some injured people was serious. The accident resulted in massive traffic jam at both sides of the road. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed and passengers had to suffer due to prolonged wait.

Security forces on Wednesday seized an explosive laden ambulance and arrested four terrorists of banned outfit during a raid in Quaid-abad. According to sources, the raid was conducted on a tip off in Quiadabad, Landhi, during which an explosive laden ambulance, stolen bikes were recovered. Sources said the terrorists were planning to use the ambulance for terror plot during Ashura. Four alleged terrorists were nabbed on the spot and shifted to undisclosed location for further probe.

blaSt near imambargah injureS one MONITORING DESK A child was injured when a blast occurred near an Imam Bargah in North Nazimabad area of the city on Wednesday. A police officer said that the explosion was heard far-flung areas of the city. He added that a vehicle was also damaged in the blast. Police said that the blast occulted near an Imam Bargah in Pahar Ganj area.

Misappropriation of funds leaves minister, 13 others to face music MATIYARI inP

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday registered a case against Sindh Minister Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman and 13 others over misuse of funds and took four accused into custody.

According to FIA Assistant Director Dr Muhammad Anwar, the case was registered against the provincial minister and other accused over charges of misappropriation of Rs75 million in development funds. Other accused included former Matiyari DC Shahid Zafar Leghari, Kashif

Memon, personal secretary of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim, LG Assistant Director Nooruddin Memon and other high officials. The FIA has arrested four accused including Kashif Memon, Nooruddin Sanai, Ghulam Mustafa Sanai and Waliullah Bhutto.
