Johnny Depp, who is known for his blockbuster films and famous lead roles, has credited director Tim Burton for saving his movie career. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star enjoyed early success in 1980s TV series ‘21 Jump Street’ but became frustrated with his big screen career after small roles in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and ‘Platoon’. Depp’s hopes of becoming a Hollywood star were given a boost when Burton cast him in the lead role in 1990’s ‘Edward Scissorhands’ - and they later sealed their working relationship by teaming up for seven more projects, including ‘Ed Wood’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’. “Tim’s a great friend and a brilliant director. When Ash refused to act opposite Brad Pitt MUMBAI: Even though she has now become the butt of all jokes because of her weight, we should not forget her contribution in augmenting the image of Bollywood internationally. ash has been a part of many international projects in the past, but she has also rejected a few films. and the most epic amongst them was 2004’s period drama ‘Troy’, opposite Brad Pitt. aishwarya was apparently offered the role of Briseis, which she turned down. ‘Troy’ director wolfgang Petersen was keen on casting aishwarya Rai in the role of Briseis, but sadly that didn’t happen. But if sources are to be believed, aishwarya turned down the offer politely, and the role went to actress Rose Byrne. ‘Troy’ had Pitt playing the lead character of achilles, and the movie was a major grosser at the box-office. we still ponder over what could have been the reason behind ash rejecting the offer, and what wonders the movie could have done to her career. however, what concerns us the most right now is her ever-increasing weight. ‘Satyamev Jayate’: Rakhi Sawant accuses Aamir Khan of stealing concept MUMBAI: in what looks like a “serious joke” of sorts, Rakhi Sawant has accused aamir Khan of stealing the concept of ‘Satyamev Jayate’, which according to the item girl is her concept. The motor mouth, who hosted a show titled ‘Rakhi Ka insaaf’, is of the opinion that her show was indeed the original one that dealt with bringing about core social issues to the forefront. Rakhi said, “The show is a complete copy of ‘Rakhi Ka insaaf’. They (aamir Khan’s production company) have stolen our concept. The format of my show was similar.” The item girl, who is also called the ultimate drama queen, went on to say that ‘Rakhi Ka insaaf’ had emotionally drained her and she had to be hospitalised. “There was a point when i was so disturbed after meeting the various people who came on the show with their problems that i had to be hospitalised, since i was suffering from depression. My show was shifted to a late night slot because of its mature content, but it still registered good TRPs. on the other hand, just because ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has aamir Khan, the show is being aired in the morning slot and people are talking about it,” Rakhi said. however, Rakhi maintains that she has great regards for aamir. apparently Rakhi wants to come up with a sequel to her show. having said all she wanted to say, Rakhi clarified that she does not intend to garner publicity. “Rakhi is not liked by a lot of people as i always speak the truth.
