After ABE

When asked what they had done after ABE, 38% of respondents had gone onto a degree in business management/administration, HR, marketing or accountancy, 242 different institutes were named, highlighting the wide range of progression options available to ABE qualification holders.

CAREERS

When asked about their current work status, most people (74%) were employed with a further 10% working for themselves. Of those employed, 51% were working for large organisations (250 plus employees).

As with previous surveys, the number of sectors ABE graduates are working in is vast, really highlighting the diversity of careers that an ABE Business Diploma can open up. A comment that summed this up was, “ABE helps you gain skills that can be applied to any role at any level, it opens doors to many careers and doesn’t limit you.” Ethel, Level 6 alumnus working in health and social care.

From literally hundreds of fields named, the top sectors are: finance (including banking, accounting, insurance & investments); government (including local government, civil service & libraries); education; health and social care; retail and sales (including e-commerce); marketing (including advertising, pr & communications); transport (including logistics and motoring); manufacture & supply; non governmental organisations (NGOs) & charities; and management services.

In terms of the career stage, 51% of respondents describe themselves as middle management, professional or executive, 32% as junior and 5% as senior and board level, whilst 9% are running their own business.

My study with ABE has been one of the best things that ever happened to me. I was working with an IT Consultancy firm at the time I was studying with ABE in Ghana. I was the Project Manager and coordinated all activities from the start to the end of the project in the current company I now work for, which is the biggest oil marketing company in the country. Due to hard work and unique set of skills, knowledge and professionalism I exhibited in the company, I was offered a job which paid five times more than what I was earning in my previous job. I've been on my current job for the past six years and my performance has been extraordinary in all aspects. I perform several roles across departments and with our other subsidiary companies with great efficiency. I owe it all to knowledge and skills set gained from ABE, hard work and a bit of luck."

CONCLUSION

ABE alumni tell us that gaining an ABE qualification has been rewarding, 92% agree that their qualification has made them more competent at work and 88% agree it has helped them to a successful career.

It's also a testament to the commitment of the ABE alumni community that more than half of the survey respondents confirmed that would be interested in being an ABE brand ambassador (a voluntary role) in the future #ABEway.

We would like to conclude this survey by thanking everyone who took part and wishing all ABE alumni continued success in the future.

ABE is offering good quality education and services. Thank you.
