BUILDING THE FUTURE: ABC'S INNOVATION AND TRAINING LAB

ABC Central Florida's Groundbreaking Initiative

In an ever-evolving industry like construction, staying ahead requires more than just hands-on skills; it demands a commitment to innovation and continual learning. Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Florida (ABC CF) and its members are at the forefront of developing the next generation of construction professionals. Through industry-leading programs and top-quality education, we are setting new standards for success in the field. With the upcoming launch of the ABC Construction Innovation and Training Lab in Central Florida, the association is taking another monumental step in workforce development.

ABC has emerged as a national leader in apprenticeship and craft education in the merit shop construction industry. The association plays a crucial role in developing the construction management pipeline and connecting businesses with the industry's future leaders. As a member of ABC, you are equipped with the tools you need to attract, develop, and retain the talent that will help your company grow.

Investing In People

When companies invest in their employees, they invest in their future. ABC provides unparalleled access to education and training programs that improve skills, drive performance, and set industry standards. Through handson task upskilling, competency-based progression, and work-based learning models, employees are empowered to reach their full potential.

Introducing The Innovation And Training Lab

The ABC Construction Innovation and Training Lab in Central Florida is an ambitious project that aligns with the chapter's strategic plan to expand its craft training programs. Utilizing 3,000 SF of vacant space on the ground floor of the existing ABC office, the lab aims to become a stateof-the-art training center.

The lab is envisioned as a multi-functional space, capable of facilitating a wide range of training programs, including hands-on craft training, technology training, and safety protocols. To ensure the highest standards, the lab will be constructed exclusively by ABC member companies. Financial support for the project is partially sourced from a matching grant from the ABC National Organization's Trimmer Construction Education Fund.

Timeline And Milestones

The idea for the lab was first conceptualized in 2022, and a task force was initiated in 2023 to develop a project budget and draft the grant request, which was successfully approved in April 2023. Currently, the design team is finalizing construction documents. The construction phase is slated to commence in the 4th quarter of 2023, aiming for completion by the 1st quarter of 2024.

ABC's Innovation and Training Lab is more than just a facility; it's an investment in the future of construction professionals and the industry at large. It represents the association's commitment to offering valuable resources to its members, cultivating a skilled, safe, and productive workforce. Together, we are building not just structures, but the future leaders of our industry. Thank you for your continued membership and support in ABC as we turn this vision into a reality.
