Doc Meddie and HICC:

Healing that Cares —The Future of Medicine Now! Can we foretell our futures? Health-wise can we foresee what’s going to happen to our bodies? Honestly, not even doctors can do that. But there is one thing—and many other things—that doctors can help you with for you to ascertain what’s going to be good for your overall health. “Doc, help me cure myself,” says Imelda “Doc Meddie” S Edodollon, MT, MD, NMD, “is what all of us should be saying; instead of saying, ‘Doc, cure me.’ Why? Because for every patient there is a doctor inside. We only need to tap that doctor inside us.” True to her word, Doc Meddie promotes “selfempowerment instead of dependency” at her Holistic Integrative Care Center (HICC), a unique clinic that offers integrative medicine—“a smart combination of conventional medicine with evidence-based alternative medicine”—under the tagline “Healing that Cares.” Doc Meddie is the Medical Director of HICC which promotes the fusion of conventional or traditional Western medicine and alternative or Eastern medicine as the most effective way to help patients suffering chronic diseases heal themselves and help those who are healthy maintain their health and firm up their systems. “This holistic and integrative approach is the future of medicine—and we are doing it now!” averred Doc Meddie. Thus, Lea Michelle “has been reaping the benefits of HICC’s personalized treatment plans since September”; Len TriniMom “is thankful for the excellent care of Doc Meddie, Chef Arlene, and all the staff of HICC who never failed to make her parents feel comfortable and positive during the treatments”; and, Ellen F, “after integrative medicine treatment, diet and lifestyle change, noticed that I no longer experience heartburn; after four sessions of Detox Therapy, I have better sleep, increased energy level, stronger immune system, clearer skin, and shinier hair! My cholesterol level decreased, too, and have encouraged my husband and mother to try it—and they have both been very satisfied.” This could be expected becuse Doc Meddie, after all, is one of her kind in Philippine medicine. She is to reckon with and taken seriously having studied Functional Medicine at the Functional Medicine University, mastered Ozone Therapy with Dr Robert Rowen, studied Ozone Therapy—Major in Autohemotherapy and Minor in Prolozone at the American Academcy of Ozonotherapy ,Gerson Therapy at the Gerson Institute ,Heavy Metal Toxicology, Inner Dance at the Energy School, Wholeness Program at Wellness land Health Institute, Pranic Healing and International Medical School of Integrative Medicine. These on top of her MD from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center.. Part of that caring is Doc Meddie’s continuous professional development and certifications here and abroad alongside HICC’s continually evolving clinic, physical renovation, and service expansion efforts. “We are always on the lookout for better and more effective integrative therapies from all over the world. We are proud to open the Nutriment Center for patients from faraway places

to heal, learn, and recover.” Among the happy clientele of HICC’s special brand of healing is Dennis E’s father. After doctors at the ICU said they could no longer guarantee his dad’s safety after he survived a deadly bout with heart, kidney, and lung failure, the family resorted to HICC’s Detox Therapy. “Just after a few sessions, I can see my dad getting stronger and stronger, in time his stamina strengthened and his health is restored like he is ten years younger. His doctors say he is in better condition now than the time he was discharged. Very efficient!” “Aside from our Body Scan, which points out the body’s lacks and excesses,” Doc Meddie continues, “we have Blood Vessel Scan from Germany, iTOVi Scan from the United States, and the Zyto Scan from Ireland.” The success of HICC’s various therapies had been overwhelming. For instance, A. Mendez remarks, “I was given Chelation Therapy and after the first session, the wounds on my skin that are long there have disappeared, my allergy episodes have decreased, and I feel lighter every day.” Doc Meddie recommended she undergo the Quantum Analyzer, which revealed high heavy metal content in her body. Doc Meddie, who is the only Filipino doctor internationally certified by the American Academy of Ozone Therapy and the Gerson Institute, also does Ozone and Prolozone Therapy for chronic illness and pain and Gerson Therapy for cancer cases on top of PlateletRich Plasma Therapy for healing tissues and Chelation Therapy for cleaning clogged arteries. Jeng Trinidad is another happily recovered patient, who at 71 years old, is super grateful for the kind of care that HICC has given her when she was administered Ozone Therapy. “After three treatments, I experienced being PAIN FREE which is equivalent to a HAPPY and HEALTHY Life. Chelation Therapy, on the other hand, has boosted my energy—I never thought I would FEEL and LOOK YOUNGER as side effects!” “Health is balance inside and outside of the body,” Doc Meddie explains. “Imbalance results in sickness— so, we have to restore that balance to treat the root cause of diseases.” Thus, HICC’s clientele include not only the afflicted but also the healthy, those coming in to maintain health and beauty. Renato Sio summed the HICC experience, thus: “I learned that Nutrition is both part of diagnosis and treatment and that there are several options both oral

and intravenous for integration with normal protocols allowing quicker healing. The latest tools and research are available from Doc Meddie due to her regular seminars here and abroad. Her staff are competent and friendly making any visit pleasant. An epitome of physical beauty and talent is HICC’s Brand Ambassador Ronnie Liang—a Pinoy Dream Academy alumnus and Viva talent (he has appeared in Fan Boy, Fan Girl and 100 Tula para kay Stella) best known for the hit song “Sa Iyong Ngiti”— who advocates eating healthy for healthy living. “We should never forget what our parents have taught us ever since we’re kids—‘Eat your vegetables!’” Ronnie beams, proving that often the problem is not that hard to solve. “We need to overcome our desires and strive for clean and wholesome living.” “Medicines are there to help the body heal, but at the end of the day it is still the body’s capacity to heal that spells the difference,” Ronnie continues, pointing out that new technology and medical intervention are there only to aid the body. “We need to help ourselves. As US President Kennedy once said, ‘Man created the problem, man should solve it,” he muses. “Aside from God’s blessings, we need enough rest and sleep, the right food, and exercise–`What you sow, you reap!’” NOW can you confidently say you can already see your future? Honestly say that your future—at least, health-wise—is well within your hands and at arm’s reach? You should with HICC and Doc Meddie around to help you ascertain what’s going to be good for you— now and in the future!!! *** Since our first visit and encounter with Doc Meddie and HICC we were able to experience first-hand the Body Scan, which was on point in revealing my fatty liver and vitamin A deficiency, the results of which Doc Meddie used to formulate the right IV drip to give us. We were able to attend Chef Arlene’s regular Gerson Therapy Talk and Demo, getting the chance see various juicing techniques and concoctions for cancer patients at the Nutriment Center. And, we were able to enjoy free Body Scans and a couple of hours at the Treatment Room for Glutathione + Vitamin C + Vitamin B IV Drip! Mabuhay!

Editor's Note

FIRST TIMES ARE ALWAYS SWEET This is a first---and I hope this won’t be the last. Anxious but it’s overwhelming. Twenty years ago or in 1998 nang hindi ko inakala na masasabak pala ako sa mundo ng publishing. It was the defunct Solar Publishing Corporation, subsidiary of National Book Store and publisher of titles such as ‘Woman Today,’ ‘Celebrity Recipes’ and ‘Family Today,’ that gave me the chance to try print magazine. Ayan ‘yung mga uso nu’ng araw na malalaking magazine na colored newsprint and glossy cover except for CR. Allow me to thank Ms. Yours truly with Pinoy pride Hidilyn Diaz Monica Aveo, its associate publisher, who took me during our very first photoshoot for this onboard, Nini Yarte, my very first editor-in-chief, and to maiden issue of Celebrity Radar. the very kind Peachy Yamsuan, who was my second eic. I’ve also learned a lot from the seasoned Ms. Teresa Reyes-Tunay and Ricci Barios, EIC and executive editor of ‘WT,’ respectively, when I became a part of it eventually before I left and transferred to ‘StarStudio’ magazine of ABS-CBN Publishing, Inc. in 2003 when the excellent and witty EIC of ‘SSM,’ Jerome Gomez, got me until the last print issue in January this year kung saan nagsilbi ako sa loob ng 14 na taon na pinakamatagal sa lahat ng naging staff. And now, I’m back to print magazine via ‘Celebrity Radar,’ Your Showbiz Insider, under the management of Prage Management Services Company (publisher of the most well-read and leading tabloids in the country, ‘Abante’ and ‘Abante Tonite’) as EIC. Dahil sa pagkakataong ito, I am grateful to my two colleagues, Dondon Sermino and Roldan Castro, entertainment editors of ‘Abante’ and ‘Abante Tonite,’ respectively, for the recommendation. Most importantly, all praises and glory to God. I am truly humbled by this amazing blessing which I never imagined and expected, eversince. We would like to officially and formally welcome all of you to our new home-’Celebrity Radar’ magazine kung saan sa aming maiden issue ay may bago kayong madi-discover sa aming main cover, ang King of Hearts na si Daniel Padilla. I won’t keep you waiting, guys! Have a good read! And please support us all the way. God bless us all always.

Mags Belles ‘The Voice Teens Philippines’ 2017 second placer Isabela Vinzon signs up with Mags clothing line as its new endorser. Even Mutya ng Pilipinas-World winner from Bohol, Pauline Amelinckx, says na bumibili lang din daw s’ya ng mga damit n’ya sa Mags dati, kaya she’s so happy that she was chosen as Ms. Mags by its owner, Mags Cue, during the coronation night held recently.

Isabela Vinzon and Mags owner Mags Cue (center) shake hands after signing the contract, with the former’s manager, Neil Gregorio of MCA Universal Records (left) and mother, Jeanie David (fourth from left), and Mags designer Mark Lawiswis (right).

BAGONG HUGOT

Maraming moviegoers, especially the millennials, ang tiyak na naka-relate to Viva Films’ new movie offering, ang ‘Para Sa Brokenhearted’ (by the ‘hugot’ author Marcelo Santos III) starring Yassi Pressman, Marco Gumabao, Louise delos Reyes, Shy Carlos and Sam Concepcion, na tulad ng lahat ay nagkaroon din ng mga hindi nila malilimutang love experience at one point in their lives. This movie adaptation was directed by Digo Ricio.

He once again showed his daring as an actor to do frontal nudity on stage. THE FESTIVAL HEAT IS ON

I

One festival, movies galore. Sino ngayon ang nagsasabing Philippine Cinema is dead?

TRIVIA, TRIVIA!

1 Ang unang QCinema ay ginanap sa

TriNoma with only three filmmakers in the Circle Competition, each given a seed grant of P800,000.

2 On its second year, idinagdag sa

line-up ang mga short film. The “Screen International” section was also added to highlight foreign films.

3 Walo ang entries sa main competition

sa ikatlong taon ng festival. The DoQC International Documentary Competition was also launched. Idinagdag din ang RainbowQC section na binubuo ng mga pelikulang tungkol sa gender equality and sensitivity at iba pang sections tulad ng “Director in Focus,” “Music Genius” (films about music legends), “Throwback Ticket” (digitally restored movies in partnership with ABS-CBN Film Restoration), at “Indie Nacional” (homegrown award-winning films).

4 QCinema’s fourth edition paid tribute

to Polish film director and screenwriter Krzysztof Kieślowski (“Three Colors: Blue, Red, and White,” “The Double Life of Veronique”) and to Filipino master director Mike de Leon.

5 Ayon kay Ed Lejano, QCinema

Festival Director, ang mga sumusunod ay “proud products” of QCinema: APOCALYPSE CHILD (2015) - received commercial distribution in Poland; Best Film, Five Flavors Film Festival 2016 and other awards; WOMEN OF THE WEEPING RIVER (2016) - Best Picture, Gawad Urian 2017; received commercial distribution in France; other awards; BALANGIGA (2017) - Best 8 | NOVEMBER | CELEBRITY RADAR

WE ARE LIVING THROUGH THE DANIEL PADILLA ERA. t 23, si Daniel Padilla ang walang dudang pinakasikat na artistang lalaki sa kanyang age bracket. Hindi magsisinungaling ang more than 600 million-peso box-office gross ng latest KathNiel movie na ‘The Hows of Us.’ A month before his October 13 concert titled ‘D4’ at the Araneta Coliseum, ayon kay Roxy Liquigan, head of Star Creatives, ay halos sold-out na ang tickets. Ang ‘D4’ ay 4th major concert ni Daniel and directed by Johnny Manahan. Musical direction was by Marvin Averido. ‘D4’ was presented by Star Events and ABS-CBN events.

“I am very happy.

A L L I D A P L

Daniel’s one ultimate showbiz crush when he was younger was Cristine Reyes. CELEBRITY RADAR | NOVEMBER | 15

Daniel did not expect ‘The Hows of Us’ to be a monster hit. We are so fortunate to have her as our director.

GOING SOLO FOR NOW?

In the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Gandarrapido: The Revengers Squad,’ Daniel starred with Vice Ganda and without Kathryn Bernardo. Pagkatapos ng recordbreaking success ng ‘The Hows of Us,’ nakikita ni Daniel sila ni Kathryn na nasa punto ng kanilang career na sumusubok mag-explore. “S’yempre narinig n’yo na may movie na si Kathryn after nito with Sharon Cuneta and Richard Gomez.

Special thanks to Roxy Liquigan and Mico del Rosario of Star Cinema and their staff, El Haig and Denise Camacho, Star Magic's head, Mr. Johnny Manahan, Daniel Padilla's handler, Luz Bagalacsa, and road manager, Maquie Raquiza, and Armando "Dho" Cruz.

Daniel is fond of collecting guitars, shoes, and jackets. The last acoustic bass guitar he bought was at a mall show he had in Glorietta. Nagbabalak din siya na bumalik mag-banda. Trivia: His bandmates appeared in ‘The Hows of Us.’ CELEBRITY RADAR | NOVEMBER | 17

“Bilang mga actors pareho, like any other type of work— lahat tayo lume-level up. Next phase. Let’s try to create ngayon as individuals. Kasi nandu’n din ‘yung growth bilang mag-isa, bilang aktor.” Given this future scenario, he is quick to defend that the love team will not cease to exist. It will remain intact. “Yun lang, ibang project, ibang kuwento, ibang script, ibang characters. Kailangang mag-mature. Kasama ‘to sa adventure. Sa journey namin sa trabaho.” If given the chance to choose a different leading lady, sino kaya ang nais makatambal ng batang aktor?

HIS FUTURE PLANS.

Maybe next year.” “Ever since noong bata ako, I’m very curious about how humans behave. I’d like to know what they think and feel. “Maybe magiging psychologist ako someday (he laughs).

He sleeps in his pajamas all the time. But he can recall that he once slept in the nude when he and his 14 buddies passed out after his concert two years ago. “Lahat kami basag (dead tired).”

HIS FAVORITE SELFIES OR PICTURES TOGETHER WITH KATHRYN

“May meaning, may pinanggagalingan. Sa trips, sa beach. Yung tina-timer lang namin tapos tatakbo kaming dalawa.” The most romantic date they had was a candlelight dinner by a beach in Palawan.

He’d like to try out theater, a musical perhaps.

But above all, Daniel is one guy who doesn’t want to rest on his laurels. The pressure will always be there. Daniel Padilla is a firm believer that learning should be never-ending. H CELEBRITY RADAR | NOVEMBER | 21

KELAN TOTOONG

H

Sarah G

TEXT: ALWIN IGNACIO

Unlike other acknowledged stage mothers, hindi maingay si Mommy Divine but she is a looming figure in her superstar daughter’s career and personal life.

For crying out loud, the woman is already 30 years old at sa edad niyang iyan, wala pa ba siyang karapatang ipabatid na she has a mind of her own, opinions to share, a heart wanting to open up? She is no longer a little girl of 16 summers. She is no longer the teeny-bopper na minahal nating lahat sa wagas n’yang pag-awit ng ‘Forever is Not Enough.’ Sarah Geronimo is all woman now, desperately seeking her own version of forever. Prangkahan. Sarah G. does not even need to consult her parents kung gusto na niyang magasawa, magtanan, o magpakasal ‘no!

Trenta na ang Popstar, ang Reyna ng Viva, ang girlfriend ng Fil-Italian dreamboat na si Matteo Guidicelli pero under the reins of her over-protective Mommy Divine, tila wala pa rin s’yang ganap na kalayaang magsalita para sa kanyang sarili, matuto sa kanyang mga pagkakamali, at lasapin ang ligaya ng isang happily-ever-after.

Kahit saang anggulo tignan, Sarah answering adult questions na hindi inere was an opportunity wasted. And to learn from her own mistakes?

Will you be my wife?”

Matteo has better save his inamorata before it is too freaking late.

“I was down, walang-wala na ako, then ako lang mag-isa,” balik-tanaw ni Hidilyn.

She suffered an injury, lost her coach, and above all, her second boyfriend from Zamboanga just broke her heart. “Pangit ‘yung performance ko. I wanted to give up na.” She has been led to believe by her former boyfriend that she wasn’t good enough. “Na-feel ko ‘yun na I’m not worth it. Wala akong kuwenta, tapos ako ‘yung may kasalanan. Parang loser ako, ‘yung self-esteem ko, sobrang baba.”

26 | NOVEMBER | CELEBRITY RADAR

Hindi na naging escape lamang from the boredom of provincial life ang weightlifting kay Hidilyn. So may gold, silver, bronze, so gold sa gitna. ‘Yung first and second (placers) du’n sila ‘yung natalo ko sa Asian Games.

Hidilyn’s Plans. “Five years from now, sana hopefully graduate na ako (sa College of St. Benilde).” Weightlifting also requires mental astuteness. How I will believe in myself,” paliwanag ni Hidilyn. So I needed to develop myself and focus.” THE GIRL WHO HAS EVERYTHING Hindi lamang ginto ang napanalunan ni Hidilyn, nakatagpo rin s’ya ng bagong pag-ibig, ang Guam-based weightlifter and videographer na si Julius Irvin Naranjo. “Grateful ako sa kanya. It takes time din (to heal). Ilang years din ‘yun. S’yempre hinahanap ko ‘yung The One. So itong lalaking ‘to sobrang mahal ako. “More on mas priority namin ang competition namin, so dinidedicate namin ang buhay namin sa training.” H

Special thanks to Noel Ferrer, Jude Sulla, and Kat Geronimo

“I’m not particular with bags really. But my current fave is Chanel, because they’re classic and a good statement piece for outfits,” kuwento ng isa sa stars ng primetime soap na “Halik.” Ria also has Celines and Valentinos in her keep. Kumbaga may surrogate mother who carries the baby o babies ‘pag twins for nine months. But lahat ‘yun the egg cells galing kay Lilia (the Russian biological mother). (Note: Ang pitong supling ni Joel ay ipinanganak through a complex process called In vitrio. The kids’ names are Prince Sean, Princess Synne, Harry, Harvey, Charles, Charlotte, and Zeid. Prince and Princess turned six, September 4. Harry and Harvey are turning three on October 27. Charles and Charlotte turned one last May 23. Zeid is turning three months old). With my sisters and nieces around, it’s like they have their mother with them. We usually go swimming. Du’n kami nagbabonding. CR: How are they adjusting to having a famous businessman father? JC: During parties, when we’re outside, kasi a lot of people nagpapa-picture sa akin so nararamdaman nila that that’s the price of being a celebrity. People admire you, are inspired by your story. Sometimes I’m like six years old, three years old because I have to level down with them. Minsan I’ll tell them, ‘I have a ghost in my room. He was asking why my children aren’t following what I’m saying.’ It’s really my passion to be a parent. Ini-enjoy ko ‘yung parenting. Iba rin kasi upbringing namin. Old school. You know the new generation. Big challenge for me. I make sure to enjoy every single moment with them. indi malimutan ng baguhang aktor na si Jomari Angeles nang gawin niya ang “Ma’ Rosa” under Dante Mendoza. He played one of Jaclyn Jose’s children who had to turn to prostitution to raise money to bail out his parents. Dante is famous for his docu-like realism where everything is raw and spontaneous. Jomari learned that it does pay to wait. TURNING AN ACTOR INTO A STAR Jomari’s manager Noel Ferrer believes that as far as wanting to better himself is concerned, the young man qualifies as an ideal talent. “He’s hungry for training.” Ferrer adds, “Simpleng tao (si Jomari). Hindi maluho, ayaw ng kontrobersya.” And in an industry populated by people who will milk dry every opportunity to hog the limelight, Jomari’s reluctance to divulge the minutiae of his private life isn’t exactly going to win him shrieking fans. Mapanghamon ang “Daybreak” dahil it requires nudity being a two-character drama about a gay couple. At s’yempre dapat pumili ako ng roles na suitable for me as public servant.” Ang ‘Tres’ ay maituturing na tribute ng Revilla brothers na sina Jolo, Bryan at Luigi sa kanilang ama at lolo na sina Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. at Ramon Revilla Sr. It tackles the current government’s war on drugs. “Maraming challenges,” pag-amin ni Jolo tungkol sa paggawa ng action movie at a time when the genre is considered to be largely dead, “like paano i-align ang action movies sa mga kabataan sa ngayon. Paano ang approach, theme and angle ng story. Kaya naman we came up with three different stories para mas maintindihan ng bagong generation sa ngayon.” He tends to stay away from the spotlight. Ten years ago, tinalikuran ni Bryan ang pag-arte para tapusin ang kanyang Consular Diplomatic Affairs course sa College of St. Benilde. At 31 and still single, binabalikan ni Bryan ang pag-aartista sa trilogy na “Tres” in the “Virgo” episode. “Tres” is an action caper. “With everything that’s happening now, the success of “Probinsyano,” then may “Buy Bust,” “We Will Not Die Tonight” ni Erich Gonzales, action will always have a place in Philippine Cinema. Celebrity Radar: Why are you still single? Bryan Revilla: I’m enjoying my life. Kumusta na, Kumander? TEXT: ALEX BROSAS

And it stuck because it fits Nene Tamayo, the first ever ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ housemate winner, like a glove. Although the ink refilling station business, her first venture, was doing well, she felt she needed something new to venture on. “Okay naman ‘yun. ‘Di ko lang ni-renew ang franchise.”

Isa sa most memorable KUNG SAAN NAPUNTA ANG WINNINGS N’YA batches ng Upon receiving her cash prize, Nene secured herself and her family. From there, she became a semi-regular segment host ng “Magandang Umaga Bayan” and became the celebrity show dancer ng “U Can Dance Season 1.” She then went into the movies, appearing as a yaya in “Shake, Rattle & Roll 8,” a teacher in the indie film “Bangkang Papel,” mother of the lead star in “Ligaw” and a cameo role in “Gabriela.”

BUSINESS ACUMEN

Although she was not born dirt poor, she was guided by the kasabihan: “Kung ipinanganak kang mahirap, hindi mo kasalanan ‘yun, pero kung mamatay kang mahirap, e kasalanan mo ‘yun. Ibig sabihin, you didn’t do something about it.” She realized something nu’ng nasa Maynila na s’ya at nagtatrabaho sa opisina sa Atlanta Centre sa Greenhills. “Na-realize ko na mas mabilis magiging succesful at umasenso kapag nagnenegosyo. Kaya sabi ko kailangan makaipon ako ng puhunan before ako magthirty years old.

Ang pagkalugi ay not the end of the world. Marami pang opportunities na darating.” Pero the fighter in Kumander Nene prevailed. Hindi siya nagpatalo sa kanyang malaking pagkalugi. She rose above the challenge.

SHOWBIZ LIFE

When she joined showbusiness, Nene felt she was wading into untested waters. Wala kasi siyang alam sa acting at hosting. To her, it was a whole new world. Open communication pa rin, chat and all. Gano’n din si Ateng Jenny who is based na rin sa US. Pero nagbakasyon siya last year kaya bonding overnight sa bahay kasama si Chx at pinuntahan din namin si Cass. Just recently lang, we celebrated Cass’ 40th

birthday. She is family,” lahad ni Nene. And yes, they do have a social media group: ‘PBB’ Season 1 Housemates.

“I did not quit naman talaga totally,” pasubali ni Nene. “There were no opportunities lang dahil maraming magaling, hindi ko expertise ang acting lalo na drama but I can do action stints.

FAMILY COMES FIRST

Sa ngayon ay priority ni Nene ang kanyang pamilya – husband Anthony and son Antonio and the NENE Prime Foods, ang kanyang bagong business venture. She’s active in joining Celebrity Bazaars organized by Tintin Bersola-Babao. H

STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT!

NASH ON TOP

Sulit tikman, babalik-balikan!

A

MURAmen stands for affordable ramen. Nash has business partners in MURAmen. It gives off that feeling of enjoying bowls of ramen with your friends.

TEXT: JOSH MERCADO • PHOTOGRAPHS: EMERSON CHAN

MURAmen started operations November of 2016 and it’s doing great. The first branch was in Makati where everyone who went there got their ramen fix.

52 | NOVEMBER | CELEBRITY RADAR

BE UNIQUE

Having started as a child actor, Nash knows how important it is for artists to keep reinventing, growing, and learning. These are principles that can also be applied to business. “The competition is really tough. Wala namang masama sa pag-take ng risks as long as alam mo ‘yung gusto mo.” H

“Six years ko s’yang crush. Ganu’n katindi. Dati suplada ‘yan, ngayon mabait na. Ever since crush ko na s’ya. One year ko na s’yang nililigawan.”

Nash welcomed Celebrity Radar sa MURAmen Pasig (Dr. Sixto Antonio Ave. corner Villa Susano Road, Maybunga) branch. Kasosyo ni Nash sa MURAmen sina Pando and Aira Rodriguez. “Kelangang maging relevant.

Actress Aiko Melendez can attest to that. Mag-isa n’yang itinataguyod ang kanyang mga anak na sina Andrei (anak nina Aiko at Jomari Yllana) at Marthena (her daughter with former model Martin Jickain). “The greatest reward in being a single mom is when I hear people that I do not know telling me that I’ve raised my kids well,” pahayag ng award-winning actress who started her career as a child actress. “My kids may come from a broken family but they can also feel complete by letting them feel how much they are loved. Just make your kids feel your presence. Believe it or not, I may have the busiest schedule when I have work but during important occasions for my kids, I make time for it. I don’t miss it.”

Pangarap ni Aiko Melendez na lumaki ang dalawa n’yang mga anak “as people who respect other people. I also want them to grow up fearing and respecting God, and to remain humble always.”

But when they got used to it, wala nang problema.

CR: What is the difficult part in being a single

mom? AM: It is really the planning stage of their lives. Mainly because may dalawang human beings under my guidance and supervision. So whatever good or bad outcome sa kanila, I take the responsibility and the sad part is I will also take the blame kung may palpak na mangyari sa kanilang dalawa.

She is now 12 years old and papasok na sa puberty kaya she needs all the attention now. As for Andrei, I am more of reminding him na lang what he is not supposed to do from what he should do.

CR: Are there funny anecdotes you can share

about your children? AM: Yes, I have with Andrei. Kasi medyo frantic ako ‘pag may narinig ako na may nililigawan so sinabihan ko siya to always use protection and I just don’t want him involved in unwanted pregnancy and sakit. So he kept on laughing habang sinasabi, why do I say that to him, so we both ended up laughing. H CELEBRITY RADAR | NOVEMBER | 55

Take for instance sina Sharon Cuneta, Janno Gibbs, Gab Valenciano, Nadine Lustre, Vice Ganda, and Kylie Versoza.

Puwede ring mamana ang pagiging depressed dahil napapasa itong kondisyon through the genes. Artista ka man o hindi, tandaan lang: The good news is that there is hope and help for people who are depressed. H

WHEN IS ENOUGH

enough? WORDS BY LAILA CHIKADORA

O

nce upon a time but not so long ago, in love na in love ang lola n’yo sa isang guy. We did not live happily ever after tulad ng mga fairy tale. He ended up with some other girl at ako naman, with some other guy pero wala akong pinagsisisihan. Siguro hindi lang itinadhana na kami ang magkatuluyan, baka hindi naman talaga kami ang meant to be. I’m sure, may mga naunsiyami din kayong love life. And to those who are going through heartbreak now, madalas kong linya ito sa radyo, “pinagtagpo ... pinaglayo.”

I DESERVE BETTER!

Is there such a thing as “perfect na relasyon?” WALA. Guni-guni mo lang ‘yun. Pero merong mga relasyon na pinagtibay ng panahon because whatever the challenge, they face it.... TOGETHER. Panghuli, mas maganda kung may patnubay from Up Above.

ABOUT LAILA CHIKADORA Laila Chikadora has been in the radio industry since 2001. Her story is an example of “nangarap, umasa, nasaktan, hindi sumuko, naging DJ!” Her voice was first heard as one of Triggerman’s Posse in the 90’s via Campus Radio 97.1 LSFM and then at the start of the new millennium as King DJ Logan’s Spookologist, Bridget. After several auditions, and a lot of “we’ll call you” and one hurtful “you are not (enter radio station dial) quality,” she finally made it as 90.7 Love Radio’s Lala Banderas. Pioneering the “babaeng bakla” peg on radio, she paved the way for her other female contemporaries, Nicole Hyala and DJ Cha-Cha. Because of her wit and contagious laughter, Laila won as Best Variety Show Host in the 14th KBP Golden Dove Awards for ‘Pinoy Hits For Life!’ aired via WRR 101.9 For Life! That award opened doors for Laila to host the late game show, ‘Games Uplate Live!’ on ABS-CBN. After a few radio station transfers and several name changes, Laila Chikadora - Pangilinan is still spreading the good vibes and laughing her lungs out Monday to Fridays, 5am to 7am via ‘Morning Calls’ and ‘Orly and Laila All Ready’ aired at Radyo5 92.3 News FM.

October Girl

Horoscope

Ano ang naghihintay na kapalaran ngayong Oktubre at Nobyembre para sa Libran na si Bea Alonzo na ipinanganak under the Year of the Rabbit?

A

Lucky number is 7.

Dahil dito, masyado silang nag-o-overthink at cautious. H

DRAGON 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964

oportunidad mula sa full-time jobs at investments.

RAT 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960

TIGER 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962

DOG 2018, 2006, 1994, 1982, 1970

Masuwerte ang mga Year of the Dog buong taon. Maraming mga Year of the Dog na maaaring ma-promote dahil sa kanilang pagsisikap.

Laid-back at panahon upang mag-settle down.

RABBIT

Maging pala-kaibigan, pasensyoso at kalmado parati.
