Make your way to Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal, a five-minute drive from the CBD, and take a 2½ hour cruise aboard the Tiwi Mantawi to Tiwi Islands. Meet your local Tiwi Guide and explore the modern Aboriginal community of Wurrumiyanga. Visit the Museum with traditional art and Tiwi ‘dreamtime’ stories, and the Early Mission Precinct with its unique Tiwi-style Catholic Church. Learn about the Tiwi people's history and their blend of culture with Christianity. Take time out for lunch. Spend time with Tiwi ladies as they paint, and experience a smoking ceremony and totem dances. Visit the Arts & Crafts Centres to see artists at work and purchase Tiwi arts and crafts. Learn about the Pukamani (burial ceremony) rituals.

Follow the Stuart Highway via Batchelor to Litchfield National Park to visit the main falls. First stop is Florence Falls, where you can enjoy a scenic bush and monsoon vine forest walk. You can also swim in the plunge pool below. Continue to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading into the deep waterhole. Have lunch at the Litchfield Café. Finally, visit Wangi Falls with its large crystal-clear pool, another relaxing spot for a swim. Swimming is seasonal and controlled by NT Parks. Enjoy a day of fascinating photos, including the mammoth stand of termite mounds. Litchfield National Park is home to both Magnetic Termite mounds, aligned north south to regulate temperature, and Cathedral Termite mounds, which can reach up to three metres high.

Depart Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway to Kakadu National Park. This World Heritage site covers 20,000 square kilometres of diverse landscapes, from rocky escarpments with ancient Aboriginal rock art, to wildlife-rich floodplains. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre to view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Join a local Kakadu Guide on a Yellow Water Billabong cruise to spot saltwater crocodiles and birdlife. Enjoy lunch at Cooinda Café. Stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) for a guided walk to view various Aboriginal rock art sites. There is the opportunity for you to experience a 50-minute scenic flight over Kakadu. This is a wonderful way to experience the vastness of the wetlands, waterfalls and towering cliffs (own expense).

A 50-minute scenic flight with informative commentary will add to your appreciation of this vast and ancient land. Highlights include the South Alligator River and flood Plains, Nourlangie, Burrungkuy Outlier, Arnhem Land Escarpment and Stone Country, Ranger Mine and Jabiru Township.

Travel south from Darwin through tropical country, passing former WWII airstrips, en route to the town of Adelaide River. Make a short stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, dedicated to those killed in the 1940s air raids. Continue to Edith Falls for a refreshing swim in the waterhole beneath the falls (seasonal). Relax with lunch at the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre. Board a 2-hour scenic cruise through Nitmiluk Gorge, spotting freshwater crocodiles and birdlife. The NitNit Dreaming Two Gorge Tour takes you through the first gorge alongside limestone escarpments before a short 400m walk to another boat for the second gorge. Guides share insights into Jawoyn culture, plants, animals and geological formations.
